Was on youtube looking at scopes and just my luck Nikon has three scopes especially made for the Ar type rifles with a special super duper Nikon mount. I just ordered a Simmonds 2.8-12x42 last week off of Ebay and saved about $150; have not found the Nikons discounted. Anyone used the 223 Nikons?
No matter what we have or how much we spend there is always something bigger/smaller better. Black Rifle Fever sucks.:(

I just purchased the Nikon 223 in 1X4 power. I haven't tried it on the range yet. It appears to be built like a tank. It is all steel, and it is a heavy little sucker.

Buds just sold me one for $239 1x4 (prolly cheaper somewhere but I did not find it) and I purchased two mounts for 67.50 a piece? I have a fairly good scope that is 2.8-10x44 which seems to work well. Paid $89 new ( I see them for 199 to 239 on the Internet) it's a Simmons and plan on using one of the Nikon mounts on the Simmons as well. Let me know how the scope works for you and I will do the same.

Got the scope mounted and sighted in at 50 yards for a 200 yard zero. Like the scope. Eye relief at over 3.5" inches requires scope to be mounted a little further than you might think necessary. Sighten in on paper at 25yards and was shooting good groups 2" low. Moved target out to fifty yards and just a few small adjustments scope was zeroed. Ergonomics, appearance, and eye relief and 223 mounts......blah blah blah I like it!

Hundred rounds and 40 Jack Rabbits later mount is still holding and have not touched anything on the scope. Still zeroed! Like the little scope.

.308 is a great caliber wish I had gotten an AR-10 sometimes.
