My apologies if this is not the correct home for this post, but I thought this would be of most interest to the people on the hunting sub-forum.

Optics planet has 8x42 Monarch 7 binoculars (demo units) for $350. You can stack this with code D4DBN (15% off binoculars, expires around 7/16) to get the total price down to $300.96. Economy shipping (5-10 days) is free. There are 16 pairs of demos left in stock.

I've been looking through friend's binoculars over the past week or two; Vortex Viper/Razor, Nikon Monarch 7, Leica Trinovid, etc... I was going back and forth between the Nikon and the Trinovid; I was ready to spend the extra $500 on the Trinovid for the slight improvement (to my eyes) in optical performance, until I realized that they had no 1/4-20 socket for a standard tripod adapted. That put me onto the Nikon Monarchs, and I was going back and forth between 8x42 and 10x42. My decision became easy when I saw the demo units on Optics Planet for $350, and out of habit I used Google to search for "Optics Plant Coupon" and found a code for an extra 15% off (should work for all binoculars).

I was completely skunked when deer hunting in 2016, I saw about ten seconds worth of deer over ten days! I have bought better binoculars and a tripod this year, and I am going to assume the hill sides I am looking at have deer and that I just have to pick them out.

get the 10x42s. I like Nikons and vortex both excellent brands. I have both!!
optic planet is a good outfit , I buy from them often!!
