Has anyone used one of these scopes. I'm thinking about putting one on my short Swe.dish carbine.
It was sporterized in the '50s so I'm not devalueing it. I know this scope isn't high dollar but I'm 76 and don't know if I'll even make next deer season, besides I'm cheap. Would like your opinion on this glass

I have the shotgun version of this. It is clear and it holds up well to the recoil of 12 ga slugs. It has the 200 BDC which I haven't tried yet with the Nikon ap downloaded on my phone. I don't like the circles on the vertical crosshair however. Stadia lines would be better, IMO.

You are talking a new Pro Staff .I have a older 2-7 that’s really not that good of scope limited field of view and poor in low light but it’s older from when Nikon first made the Pro Staffs.Everyone says the new ones are fine.

I have the P-22 in 2-7x on a .22 and a ProStaff 3-9x on my 10/22. Nothing to write home about but good enough for picking off squirrels. At 76 my advice is break the bank and buy a nice Burris Fullfield II. As I am also cheap, I do own a lot of Nikons.

Haven't used one yet, but I've heard from a few folks that LIKE the ff2 3-9s, that the 2-7s aren't as nice. I'd honestly recommend a Leupold vx-f 2-7x32.... .But that's what I'm using, so I'm biased lol.

Comparing my Nikon and leupold of the same size the leupold blows the Nikon out of the water! I had a hard time counting points on a buck 100 yards out with the Nikon and the vx2 I could even see eye balls!! Buy once cry once. Trust me I cry a lot when I find a scope for $100 more that’s 5x better.

I was unimpressed with the fullfield 2 2-7x. I've also been unimpressed with the leupold vx freedom glass in my 1-4x scope. And really unimpressed with the feel of the turrets. I'd pick a vortex diamondback 2-7x over freedom or fullfield. and I'd scoop up this weaver grand slam 2-8x over either of them, but at $240 (https://www.natchezss.com/weaver-re...scope-2-8x36mm-49-1-12-6-3-46-3-31-matte.html) you have moved pretty far from the nikon price.

I actually like the prostaffs for the money. Though I recently had to send some binoculars back to nikon and they made me pay for the shipping to them, which I wasn't too thrilled with. But everybody's eyes are different. Ask 5 guys which scope they like best and you will get 7 different and emphatic opinions.

I have one of the shotgun models too. Parallax is set at 75 yards. I have used it as a utility scope, bouncing around from rifle to rifle. Its never let me down, and every time I look through it I remark (to myself) how crisp and clear the glass is.

I have it setting out now to mount on my 1100. I'm going to try a shotgun optic for this spring turkey season.

I had a 2-7 Fullfield II on my 336 30-30 which I replaced with a VX-3 1.75-6x32 several years ago. I liked it.

I still like the older prostaff scopes, but the newer Nikon's have gotten too bulky for me. Optically I think they are pretty good for the cost tho.

I agree about the turrets on the vx-f, if I had to use them for more than sighting in I'd hate em. The vx-f also isn't as sleek as the older vx-2s. Optically, it works for me, and was the first leupold I've ever owned that did.
