I think Gov. Christie needs someone watching the size of his "big gulps" just as in NYC, and we need some challenges to the arbitrary and capricious issuance of CCW permits in that state. Also, the legislature needs some schooling on the advantages to bystanders/persons "downrange" of the target with HP rounds in the target vs. a round that is more likely to penetrate and keep going.

Christie shouldn't be banning anything, he wants to be president doesn't he?

I think he wanted to be veep but got miffed during the '12 election because Romney didn't pick him. So he gave the president a pat on the back for his "handling" of Sandy right before the election, making him out to look like a compassionate team player and helping him to gain the undecided vote.

I wasn't a fan before that either. I was initially surprised at how many of my conservative friends viewed him favorably... granted that was when he claimed to have balanced NJ's budget and fiscal matters were on the table rather than firearms.

Giuliani is just another hypocrite like that RINO tub-o'-guts, Christi... except Giuliani is not made of buckets of lard. Other than that, two peas in a pod.

Both hate the Second Amendment. They, however, will not give up their heavily armed bodyguards, will they, in order to have the courage of their convictions? Same with Obama. Hypocrites one and all.

Of course, as we worker peasants and serfs all know, "They" are our elite superiors and deserve elite protection, while we don't.

I’m concerned with the number of gun owners that are “surprised” by the actions of Christie. My view is that anyone who was paying the least bit of attention knew exactly what Christie was and is not surprise at all by his actions.

If this “surprise” is indicative of the level of political knowledge that many gun owners have in general, we are in deep trouble. It seems that many gun owners are unable or unwilling to identify those politicians that are against gun rights. Gun owners really need to pay attention.

Check out of some of these bills being proposed in NJ legislature. Absolutely insane. Way worse then anything that passed in NY. Even one calling for a psychological exam and home inspection of anyone who wants to purchase a firearm. However, i have a feeling Christie will veto most, if not all of these ridiculous bills if he wants to have ANY hope of winning Republican nomination in 2016.

Christie has never been friendly to the 2A. I'm glad he is showing his true positions now rather than if he attempted to run for Pres. and hide these things from us. This just shows that some New England Republicans are no better than their Dems

New Jersey has all those laws... but wait, isn't there a lot of crime there? Isn't the mob active in New Jersey? Isn't that where Richard Kuklinski was based?

Not too surprised. Never liked that big old jersey boy myself. Comes across like a carpetbagger, to me anyways.

Other states should be worried too. I'm in the deep south and have written my state legislators repeatedly. I get the same basic form letter response from all of them. "I grew up on a farm and support the 2nd amendment, but I also think we need to look at assault weapons and high capacity mags, blah, blah, blah." Mind you I'm in a red county/district.....all "a+" rated nra types.......somthing stinks like a ****house rat about this whole thing.

I was feeling safe down here, but I got a bad feeling from the responses I've been getting back.......I wouldn't count y'alls eggs till they hatch.

That's why I like my state. We've got a FEW restrictions that I'd like to see go (though we've repealed several in the last few years), but it was nice to get my NRA-ILA email for SC this morning and see that all the state level stuff here were pro-gun bills they wanted to support. Nothing anti-gun even on the horizon here.

My only fear is federal level stuff.

This could actually be a step up for him if he deals with the mentally ill, street violence and leaves the 2A alone.............what are the odds ?

I'm currently living in the communist regime of new jersey. Life is hard. Every day I wake up to my job in the Nike factory making shoes for americans. One day I'll save up enough money to build a raft and hopefully escape this tirany.

Governor Christie's proposal may, for New Jersey, be a good response to the insane demands for increased gun regulations we face after the recent school attacks. Sadly, in this state the majority of the electorate have absolutely no interest in gun ownership or sympathy with gun owners. They don't realize that New Jersey already has some of the strictest laws in the country, and they are happy when our politicians institute the same nonsensical laws over and over again. In the present climate the only practical pro-2nd Amendment response by a politician to the hysterical calls for more gun controls is to play for time by asking for a committee to study the problem.
While the task force is conducting this study, we should encourage Governor Christie's presidential aspirations by applauding his efforts to oppose any new gun control legislation in New Jersey. Please e-mail him and tell him how you respect and admire politicians who take a courageous stand in defense of our rights. Mention that New Jersey already has very strict laws that impose a heavy burden on honest gun owners but have done little to reduce gun violence. Suggest that the task force look for government responses that will have real effects on the safety of our schools and public gatherings.
We are the voice of sanity and reason and we can win this debate.

Considering the surprises Christie has made in the last six months, what if the recommendation was that their firearms laws are draconian and need to be relaxed as they are overtaxing areas that need financial relief?

Or are we going to just be a bunch of negative nellies?

He's been proposed as a top Republican presidential candidate for 2016.

He'll never get it with an anti-gun platform...but his current record re: guns already speaks for itself.

    Ummm...

    They gotta be kidding, right?

In home inspections, by the police, before you can purchase firearms?

They're crossing so many "lines in the sand" here it's ridiculous.

People are finally seeing Christie for what he is. It blew my mind how many so called conservatives wanted him to run in 2012 since the guy is just a fat Mittens. I'll never vote for any candidate that comes from a People's Republik state.
