No Guns allowed at Buffalo Wild Wings

I was told if a place of buisness has the no concealed carry sign and you leave your gun in the car and get hurt during a robbery of that place then you can sue them. Since they've told a law abiding cwp holder they must leave their gun in the car that they assume the responsibility of keeping you safe, while your there. Is this true or was I misinformed?

Incorrect. They have no obligation. You CHOSE to go there

Don't go there if it upsets you that much and you feel your life is in danger; of course how many instances have happened compared to the number of visits to such places? You have better odds of winning the lottery or being hit by lightning

The signs aren't about keeping criminals away - it's political psyops. The lefties want to make people hate guns. By posting the signs everywhere people will start to believe that guns are bad, period.

Same bull goes on in NYC. The signs are all over Brooklyn. It was VERY irritating.

I thought carry was very rare in the NYC area. What are they worried about?

GEM, my friend, it's called insanity.

NYC residents think a sociopath, who has already broken the law by acquiring an illegal firearm and is prepared to rob/kill will look at their sign and change his mind.

I really wouldn't be surprised at all if organized crime was behind it all. How are they going to operate and extort if they have to worry about losing all of their soldiers to the common man's gun fire?

Went there twice, was unimpressed both times. Best wings in ABQ area is Texas Steakhouse near Cottonwood and Slates Street in RR. Buffalo Wings are for the Yoopies.

If you ate at the Anchor Bar where they invented in the 70's - it wasn't Yuppie food!

Buffalo, one of my old home towns.

While this isn't a food list, I will opine that boneless wings are a horror and an insult to the true wing. I certainly wouldn't give up carry to get some of those! :cuss:

I wonder if it's company policy... I've eaten in a BW3 near me (Florida) while carrying, and I don't recall seeing any signs like that. Perhaps it is just that store where you were, or that store and other ones owned by the same person but not all BW3s.

Perhaps look for other local BW3s and see if one of them doesn't have the sign? I very very rarely see signs like that here in FL except on .gov buildings (which don't need the sign to be off-limits for carry). But I'm with you, not one dime of patronage for places that don't want me to carry there.
Florida is "Special"!

What the heck do they call them wings anyway?, Turn on the grill and make them in less time than it takes to drive there and back. Try the Hurricane grill, for chicken parts

Polite but firm letters to corporate HQ usually gets things changed on most any reasonable problem. They assume you sent a letter but 10+ people who feel the way you do didn't bother. When you vote with your money, companies tend to listen if they are reasonable (most are). Companies do screw up and miss things that they later think, "Boy was that a dumb mistake". Give them one chance, then be ready to take your business elsewhere.

This news show clip makes the point quickly. :) Yes I know it's been seen, but not by some people.

If you find a chain of restaurants/stores/malls/etc.... that just puts up those "No unlicensed Concealed weapons" signs, then definitely send them a "thank you for letting me be prepared to defend myself and my family/friends" letter. The more companies wake up to reality and make concealed carry welcome, the better. Anonymous letters if you want, just talk to them.

Of course sometimes the CEO is a unreasonable fanatic and won't change their mind or even listen to reason. Some people are just flaky. Move on. Then, be ready to find a new place to spend your money.

I've noticed many gas stations put up the "no unlicensed concealed carry" signs. Bring that point up with managers. If the places robbed so much that it's cliche like Legal concealed carry, why not your business?

Alot of places around here have taken the signs down. How would they know if i am carrying or not anyways...

Went back Thursday night and the one in Little Rock definitely does not have any signage prohibiting concealed carry. It must be a local thing or at the discretion of the individual manager.

Madstabber, that's probably because the People's Republic of Illinois is the LAST STATE IN THE COUNTRY to not allow concealed carry.

Be ashamed for your state, and go make change happen! I'm pulling for you man!

Yeah if you've never noticed a sign that makes carrying illegal in your state, or if signs mean nothing in your state, don't worry. Who cares about a policy. Most places I visit while working have policies against guns. I carry and keep my mouth shut. These folks can wet their pants all day about guns but it will not change the fact that I have a snub revolver in my pocket. I am the one responsible for protecting myself, not them. Sometimes being open and telling everyone you carry is not a good thing.

I know this is a relatively old thread, but I want to share an up-to-date observation.

I went to a BWW here in Birmingham last night, and didn't see a 'no guns allowed' sign. I did note one that noted that each BWW is locally owned and operated. I take this to mean that the franchise owner makes the call for HIS stores. If a local establishment doesn't have 'the sign', consider giving it some business.

Yesterday, I went to one of my favorite places to eat wings, and noticed a sign that prohibited guns

I was meeting a client, so I finished my meal, and after the client left, I spoke with the manager.

In a very peacable way I explaned that this was my last visit.

I also explained to him that in Texas, a sign like his in a restaurant is not legally binding.
(Not a 50% alcohol place, not a 30.06 sign)

I explained how his sign was an attempt to infringe upon my 2A rights.

The manager was very peacable as well, and said that he would raise the concern with his manager (maybe....probably a "blowoff")

I will however NOT eat there in the future.

We need to not let a gun hating person (company) infringe on our 2A rights in a public place, if they are blatant like this company against a state law,
then I will tell everyone I know that they shouldnt patronize the place

I also talked to the manager about how ludicrous the sign was.

I said "imagine an armed bank robber ready to break in to a bank..... he sees the NO GUN sign....... do you REALLY think he wont go in???"

I said all your sign gets you is a limit of the law abiding citizen.

Its STUPID if you think about it
I agree completely. The "gun free" zone and its signage takes the firearm out of the hands of a law abiding citizen and the criminal will simply ignore the sign.

This is a hot topic, so here is some comic relief in the form of a video! :)

It's all I ever get at BW3's. Either medium or Jamaican jerk, depending on how I feel. Blue cheese, please. I guess I'll insult all true wings gladly, because gnawing on bones doesn't do anything for me.

i realize the thread is old, but the error i see here is that the OP appears to believe the private property owned by either BW3 or the franchise owner is "a public place" when, succinctly, it ain't...

this isn't exactly an identical scenario but imagine you have a plumber come to fix your water heater and he walks into your house with an AR slung over his shoulder...maybe you're not comfortable with someone you don't know wandering around your house with an AR, so you ask him to leave it in his truck...have you infringed his 2A rights? or are you exercising your rights as the owner of the property?

either way, the "public place" line isn't accurate...

I think you may be referring to the public vs private property, given the plumber example.

However, BWW is a public accommodation, since admission is open to the general public rather than restricted to members as in a country club. Public accommodations have historically had restrictions placed on how their owners can operate, and those restrictions have held up in court.
