The CZ 100 was the first DAO striker fired, polymer frame gun I bought and maybe that was a big chunk of new technology to bite off. That being said, I've been happy with it. It's a serviceble combat gun. The sights are nice and square, even if a bit chintzy since they're day glow, not true night sights. The controls are easy to reach. Yes, the trigger is long and has a bit of stack, but on the firing line, I don't notice it. It reminds me of a Colt Detective Special. The grip fits me better than a Glock. It strips like a 1911 which is the way I learned. None of this stuff about little pieces or levers, just align and pop out the slide stop.
A feature that's perhaps unique to the CZ100 is a metal plate which has the letters
G U N stamped in it inside the mag well. I haven't inspected other CZ polymer pistols, so I don't know if it's only in the 100. Obviously, it's an attempt to stop a potential hijacker from smuggling a plastic gun aboard a plane.
Negatives for me?
Lots of people truly hate the trigger. It's not a hindrance to me except in slow fire at long range.
I used a rat tail file to dress gently round the bottom of the trigger guard where it meets the grip. I have several guns where that's a source of irritation to me - it's either my style of grip or my fat fingers. At least with the CZ100 and Glock 26, the solution is simple.
Unlike a Glock, the metal slide rides directly on the polymer frame. There are no inserts for metal to metal contact. Is this a problem? Considering CZ' engineering capabilities and the intended military and paramilitary marketing for this gun, I'm sure that CZ thoroughly torture tested the design.
I don't like the design of the trigger. It's deeply grooved - OK for gloves, less OK for bare fingers.
The gun didn't have a long marketing life. Will parts become a problem? I doubt it in my life time.
Will it hold it's value? I don't know, but like the above item, I'm not worried about it.
Summing up, the CZ is currently my bedside gun. Would I buy another? I know I'd be as well served by any number of guns and maybe a better choice for me would have been a S&W 669 or 6906. Either serves the same tactical roll as the 100, but is a totally different kettle of fish, alloy
