I have a norinco 1911 copy which I am considerng installing a Trijicon rear sight. My question is this, which way does the existing sight come out of the slide? If I am facing the rear of the pistol, looking down the sights, does the sight get slided in from the right side or the left side? Or is this question moot because the sight and slide are both evenly machined?

It drifts in from the right and drifts out from the left. Good luck on changing the front sight. Some of them are silver sodered in.

Clarification

So Dave, you are saying I need to tap the old sight OUT of the slide on the LEFT side of the sight? (This is assuming I am looking at the pistol as if I were in shooting position.)

Thanks. It is coming along nicely. I have done the mag well entry and put some skate board tape on the front strap. The next step is to tear it down, prep it, and get it out to Gunsite for bluing.
