I have a norinco sks my dad bought for me back in the 90's, I haven't shot it much because the stock is too short. My buddy who is selling all his guns because of his wife gave me a folding stock made by combat exchange. Is this legal to put on my sks?

The stock on a regular SKS was too short for me to shoot comfortably. I'm 6'3", 235.

As long as the fixed 10 round mag stays installed, you can drop it into any stock you want. It won't violate 922r. If you want to use detachable mags, check your 922r checklist to make sure.

Compliance? ......from my cold dead hands.

I put a US folder and a 10 round fixed mag on my paratrooper. I have a camo sporter stock made by Choate and a 5 round mag and cut off the bayonet lug on my rifle. I don't much care for the folder, just a range toy, really. I do like the rifle with the Choate and 5 round mag for carry in the field, truck gun use, and occasional hunting, though. I shot a 9 point with it a week or so ago. It's a handy gun with good field ergos.

Yeah, I'm only 6 ft and the standard Norinco stock is too short for me. I just replaced it.

I'm 6'1" and don't have any problems with my Norinco. It's short but it's a carbine so I've always expected it to be short I guess. I just thought it makes it easier to work with in tight spaces.

FWIW aftermarket stocks generally make the resale value of an SKS go down because some of them cause problems and most people don't know which ones are good and which ones are bad. So hang on to your original in case you want to sell the rifle later.
