Today at the range I tried something new: Norma USA Subsonic-22.

I didn't examine the rounds at the range, just loaded and fired them in a semi-auto .22 (a Ruger 10/22 clone known as a Rimfire Magic). The rounds were quite "smoky" and accuracy was mediocre.
Afterwards I photographed the bullets that were left in the box. Some of the hollow points are occluded, possibly with wax. It comes out easily with a pin.

I have a question: do you think the occluded hollow points can affect accuracy?

Doubt it'll affect accuracy that much. Might if the wax is on one side of the cavity but I know that I could probably not shoot the difference. It might affect the expantion if it was full however. Although how much is anyomes guess. Some of the boxes of REM Golden bullets of the past had gobs of wax all over the bullets but they were not hollow points and seemed to shoot accurately if you got one with priming compound in it LOL.

I was happy that they cycled the action, at least!

Doubtful up close, farther down range? Sure, vertical will suffer.

"do you think the occluded hollow points can affect accuracy?"

Only a proper science experiment at the range can answer that question.

.......... That would be an interesting experiment. If you decide to compare them to other ammunition, let us know the results. (Inquiring minds want to know).

Don't know, but thanks for the report. Sportsman's Warehouse here has stacks of that stuff, and I've been wondering how it shoots. :)

I dunno about that sub stuff, but the Tac 22 I have that runs at 1070 fps gums up my S&W K22 revolver pretty quick, runs fairly ok in a Browning semi auto pistol and a Savage bolt rifle...not that consistent, but it was only .10 cents a round. Cheap in today's market, but I wouldn't buy again unless I can't get CCI or Blazer for the same/close price.
