After shooting a round, the lever on my 336C .30-30 will pop open easier than when a non spent round is chambered. Is this a normal funcition?

I am not sure if I am reading your question correctly, but my experience is that as the recoil impulse moves the stock back my hand tends to stay somewhat stationary thus beginning the lever stroke. This is more true with the pistol stocked 336 than with a straight stocked lever.

I don't think you have anything to worry about.
