That’s what made me wonder where the over 1750 rounds that were fired went. Anyone that knows an officer involved with training and qualification, has heard the stories but that’s a lot of officers responding, I suppose even 100 of them, in that department would be a small percentage of the dept.

Makes me wonder if most or even all the shots fired by police actually hit the Perps, but wearing steel, the bullets just mushroomed and went to the ground...

I’m not sure of that, let’s say you shot...500 rounds at a 6 foot diameter moving target and all or most hit it, what are the odds of not hitting a 6” circle within it with a number of them. If you say slim, I agree and that would mean if most hit the intended target but not hitting the head, would be slim as well and they were less than half that width.

Lots of people ended up getting shot. Both of the perpetrators were shot multiple times. They were just armored up and drugged up so most of the hits didn't affect them much. The link posted by DNS has a lot of details in it.

Saddest part of that whole thing, is one citizen with a scoped 30-06 could have ended it with a couple of rounds. But it is generally illegal for a citizen to carry a rifle around on a daily basis in L.A. And I imagine had a civilian offered to do the deed, the cops would have arrested him for one crime or another.

Think back to the shooting at UT Austin. Of those that went into the tower only one was a police officer. And he was happy for the assistance. Today the absolute last thing the authorities want is a successful conclusion of a shooting due to the intervention of a civilian. They would then have to admit that armed citizens are a valuable resource.
