Here's the skinny:
The friends of the NRA is trying to get a fundraising dinner off the ground by mid summer, before hunting season starts.
It was a sad turnout folks, only a dozen people showed up, even after posting all the fliers around the valley.
This idiot(me) is chairman of the event. I think given a couple months it can be pulled off easily. The field rep says we need a minimum of 100 poeple buying tickets for the dinner to do it(about $25 a plate). This is to be a good meal along the lines of a good restaurant meal.
There will be random prize drawings, some items will be auctioned off, including some guns that have been done specially for the NRA, and possibly a safe from Fort Knox.
This is the non political arm of the NRA that donates money to the local areas where the dinners are held. They've given money to both the maple dell range, and the thunder ridge range(both are scout camp ranges), and the Ogden high school shooting team, among others I can't remember off the top of my head. Not drop-in-the-bucket donations either, I'm talking donations over the thousand dollar mark.
Kudos to George Hill and crew: The NRA rep said they held one out in your area that raised 60,000.
BTW: Here's a blood boiler. Under tax-exempt laws they have to be very careful on the legal end of things. During clintoons dictatorship they had to give the IRS office space at NRA headquarters, and the little parisites were there every day for four years solid.
Under Bush? Poof, gone.
FFT.
There will be another meeting next week, same place, same time, but on THURSDAY night instead of Wed. Anyone want to come? I could really use the help, even if you can only commit to buying or selling a couple tickets.
Sorry if the info sounds spotty, but at this point it is. Last nights meeting was just to put a commitee together. Next week we start actually start figuring out how to get it all put together.
We could make it the June 12th shoot reunion dinner?
