not sure what this is all about...can you help

I have about 225 of these pieces of .300 WSM. The head stamp each says "Winchester .300 WSM". Are theses any different? The problem is that they will not even fit into my normal .300 WSM Lee shell holder. I noticed that they each have a gold/brass slot in the base...Any ideas?

Perchance, someone may have fire-formed them into something else ??? That might explain the nock in the base.

I pity the person that finds my occasional stray .30-30 brass that I've fire-formed into .32 Win Special.

Do you have some calipers and can you give us measurements ???
 
Where did you get the brass in ? It looks pretty well shot, the mark on the shell base in most likely a index mark. I would toss them in the scrap bucket.
 
Do you have them sitting with their necks stuck in the surface you photographed them on? Where are the necks? If no necks, someone has made them into something else...
