We have received our monthly NRA magazines with the enclosed ballot and Resumes of candidates for the Board of Directors annual election. For your convenience the following people do not identify as a current board member:

Charles Beers III, Rick Ector, Herbert Lanford Jr, Amy Lovato, David Raney, Barbara Rumpel, Amanda Suffecool, Bruce Widener, Eb Wilkinson

The above candidates present strong resumes describing their activism for the 2nd Amendment, gun owners' rights, and professional experience in the private sector. If change is to happen at the NRA, it begins with the Board of Directors. Voting only for these 9 candidates may make a difference.

I personally worked with the NRA-ILA this election season, attended Friends of the NRA Events that fund new shooting ranges, contributed directly to political candidates, and identified myself as an NRA Life member. I do not respond to the frantic pleas for funds from the NRA. Telephone callers are told, "No contributions until Mr. LaPierre is gone."

The NRA seems to be sliding more and more toward the Christian Nationalist position. They praise interviewees for their faith and sell, "In God We Trust" glassware. Who's "We"? If you're an NRA member, does that mean you're expected to subscribe to a certain religion? I'm an Endowment member, but I'm also a non-believer and all my contributions go to the SAF. That's the way it will stay until the NRA quits promoting religion and returns to its real job.

I'm a Christian, and I would agree with you. Stay out of religion and politics (not related to 2A), and engage on 2A rights specifically. I have other places I donate/tithe to for other important areas in my life.

I haven't seen an overt push for religion, but if it's happening I would agree with you. But in all honesty I've tuned out the NRA for about 10 years now, my money's going to other 2A oriented causes. Not a fan of WLP and they won't get a dime from me until he's gone.

I don't see that the NRA is promoting religion so much as they see a large percentage of their membership are religiously oriented so accommodate those folks.

Been a member from 1968 onwards never noticed the NRA pushing any Religion, but the all mighty Dollar.

I will definitely have to go back and research that to see if it's a fact.

Nope, the NRA is not some hard core Christian organization, never has been. Obviously to some if anyone actually breathes God's name in any form that person/org is automatically labeled Christian Nationalist........... Sounds to me like "woke" demagoguery.

I would have to say the Management of the NRA are not Christian anything after seeing them at the Orlando meeting in 2003 (Hooters Girls are probably a sign your not a Pew Warmer), but their maybe a couple members that are Christians.

I think the Management's God is Money because that's all they ever ask for or pray to.

The term "Christian Nationalist" is something new to me; I have never seen the United States as a Christian Nation. I have always seen it as a Nation with some Christians living here.

Everybody asks for money be it left wing orgs, right wing orgs and everywhere in between, that's a given. Did you know that LaPierre isn't even in the top 10 of highly paid non profit heads?

As for who may and may not be a Christian and what makes one a Christian is not really an aspect of this discussion nor do I think it's allowed by the board rules.

Sorry about that just never heard that term before. Personally don't really care who is or who is not one.

I am definitely glad he is not paid that much; that's one point in his favor.

Don't know if you have a copy of the History of the NRA, but you can see Mr. Lapierre transformation from good NRA employee to King of the Organization. Unfortunately what happened to him happens to many people that go to D.C.

We were getting off track but to answer your question while there are those who are (far right) Christian Nationalists they are few and far between. However it has become a denigrating term used by mostly the far left and atheists to negatively stereotype all Christians specifically for sociopolitiacal reasons.

    For the OP.
Of the nine names you mentioned not currently serving - have any of those served on the NRA Board of Directors in past years?

    Thank you for this.

I’m an endowment member of the NRA, so I’ve given them a good bit of my income in dues alone. I have resolved to send back every fundraising envelope they send me with a note indicating my displeasure with the continued presence of WLP in the organization.
