I realize this subject has probably be addressed here before but I can not seem to find a definitive answer to my specific question.
Does anyone here have any experience with using Nu Finish car polish in a vibratory case tumbler using corn cob media to polish brass cases? If so what's your opinion? Very good ,good ,fair ,not so good or lousy. I'm only interested in Nu Finish as I have been happy with other products but am looking to save a little money. Not into changing how I polish brass or making my own concoction.

I use it, after being educated about the downside of Brasso, changed to Nu-Finish, and am VERY pleased with the results.

There will be all kinds of suggestions. Here's mine. Cut a USED dryer sheet in half. Add brass to empty tumbler. Cover with media. Lay the two pieces of dryer sheet on top. Drizzle a capful total on the sheets. Drop a little media on the wet sheets to cover them. Run for as long as you want. The used dryer sheets seem to collect the dusty carbon residue and also help distribute the nufinish without getting globs on the cases. As you use the media multiple times you may need less nufinish.

Check the labels for ammonia, don't use it if it has it.

Unless you're planning on tumbling the same batch of brass in a cesspool for months, the presence of ammonia in a polish is not a concern.

So-called "season cracking" occurred in unannealed brass that was stored in a stable for months. It was discovered that annealing the brass solved the problem. Whether modern annealed brass is even susceptible to season cracking under similar conditions is open to question, but it is clear that given the tiny amount of ammonia in various polishing compounds and the limited exposure times (minutes to hours versus months), concerns about polishes being injurious to modern cases is simply an old wives tale.

Not sure if this matters... I went thru a period of time when I had split cases for 45 Colt, 308, 30-06. I changed to Nu-Finish, have not had a split case since.

You be the judge for what feels right for you.

I've used them all, and if there is a difference between Midway polish, Berrys polish, Dillon polish, and Nu Finish, it ain't much. They all work just fine.

Despite the fact it may not be much, and may not be in contact with the brass long, there is zero chance of a problem if you don't use something like Brasso, and there are so many good options without Ammonia in them, that is what I choose.

Add the polish slowly while it's running to distribute the polish. Run it long enough to break up the clumps. May take more than 10 min depending on the size of the tumbler. I add 4-5 2"x2" cleaning patches to the mix too to collect the dirt/dust.

I've got some 45 brass that was polished with NuFinish 2 years ago. Still has not tarnished. :)

Never used Nu Finish but have used Turtle Wax scatch and swirl remover for years. Works fine. Probably about the same.

I'm not quite this OCD but I throw a piece of dryer sheet or paper "shop towel" in with the brass and media and a bit of Nu Finish or Dillon rapid polish. i don't worry about the order that it all goes in.

I've used nu-finish,turtle wax and presently using a detailers type wax that's about half the price of nu-finish. All of them have worked good for me as long as i put enough of it in my media.

I have used Nu Finish for several years with Harbor Freight Walnut media. This combo works great.
Same.

I stopped using dryer sheets - just winnow the media to get rid of dust! Pour it back and forth between a couple of 5gal buckets in a light breeze out on the lawn - soon you will have dust free media. Use NuFinish with it, and the dust never returns.

I use it. I dribble a little directly into my lizard litter every now and again. Then switch it (HF vibrating tumbler) on and let it mix in for a bit. Never put it in with brass. I got a bunch of nasty chunks stuck in some cases that way.

It works well enough I guess. I never tried anything else though.

I let my tumbler run without the lid for a minute or two to purge excess dust.

When the dust gets bad in my tumbler I pour a couple of table spoons of mineral spirits in while it's running and also helps the cleaning process.

I've used Nu-Finish for a good while. I've also used lots of others and can't tell much, if any difference between them. I put a cap full into a large Dillon along with a cap full of mineral spirits. I distribute it as well as I can and then run the tumbler for 10 minutes of so before loading it with brass.

I have been buying it from Petsmart, I am sure that the stuff specially formulated for lizards to pee on it is quite overpriced.

Chewy.com has Blue Buffalo brand litters made out of walnut shell. 26 pounds for $20, which is cheaper on a per-pound basis than Harbor Freight.
