For you guys that use Nu Finish in your dry tumbler media...how much do you put into an average sized tumbler? Mine is a standard sized RCBS tumbler, not one of the Super-Sized ones. Tablespoon(s)? Ounces? Or just a dollop?

I found that the Treated Walnut Shell Brass Polishing Media sold by Midway USA had all the brass polish in it and adding extra Nu Finish seemed to eventually make the dry media "wet" or "damp" and the damp media didn't polish as well as the dry ... So I stopped using the Nu Finish ... I just went with dry media untill it stopped polishing like it should ... then changed the media for some new stuff .
I buy 7 lb. container and change when it wears out ... the size is right and the polishing media is made for brass cases ... in all truth you don't have to add anything to it and that saves money right there !

I dilute the Nu Finish 1/1 with OMS, add it to the running tumbler media, and run it for a while BEFORE adding the cases.
This "hydrates" the media and eliminates the dust.
You will get a "ring around the collar" on the bowl of the dried dust, easily removed though.

Well, that's what I did before I switched to wet. :uhoh:
Happy to see the return of the once weekly tumbling thread.
jmo,

try 1 part Wax & 2 part rubbing alcohol! works REALLY well

I use Lizard Litter Desert Blend I get at Pets Mart. I put in one cap full of Nu Finish. One bottle lasted for years. I gave the tumbler to a Friends son and at least half a bottle with it. I thought I'd switch to an Ultrasonic cleaner. Those thoughts didn't last long and I went back to the dry tumbler and Lizard Litter and bought a New bottle of Nu2000. I'm not sorry I bought the ultrasonic it's great for a lot of stuff, I just prefer the dry tumbler for my brass.

It to use lizard litter. I clean the cases for 2 hours first as they have been sized (covered in Redding wax) trimmed chamfered and debured and have the very dark annealing marks. After 2 hours I add about a teaspoon and let it run for another 30 minutes to an hour. If you add the nufinish to the vibratory tumbler and run it for 15 or so minutes first the clumps will go away and the flash holes will all be perfect. My way sometimes I get it packed with the wax and I clean it out and tumble with the next batch for a few minutes at the end.

I use Desert Blend Lizard Litter an Nu-Finish, After a range session I will dump them in my tumbler and let them tumble for 24 hours.

Used Lizard litter works really good. The ammonia makes brass Really shine!
Though I’m told it may leach out some of the copper making it really brittle!
😱

UR, EMM, should I say I’ve used walnut hull media but prefer corn cob due to softer shine…Nu Finish with Mothers Metal polish… run for 30minutes before adding brass…
