Howdy!

Two new laws go into effect 10/1. One concerning handgun registration in Clark County (Las Vegas) and the other concerning reciprocity.

Check out SECTION 11 for the most up-to-date information on these two important pieces of legislation.

I'm more interested in the reciprocity list, word on the street is that they are required to have a list on Oct 1.

It may be the "word on the street", but trust me as of 9/7/07 there is no approved list.

Like I said the list is supposedly required on Oct 1st, and some people asking the state about it said the list will be released then, and no earlier.

Looks like after Oct 1st would be a good time to add my Taurus 94 to my CCW and get the revolver endorsement.

Not trying to hijack, but I saw on the Section 11 site about the old/new restrictions on desert driving and shooting - that bites!

I guess I'll need to take a more serious look at joining Desert Sportsman's range.

who knows. Nevada is notorious for not allowing any reciprocity of any other state's CCW/CHL because they are losing out on money, especially if they allow a state like Utah (allowing non-resident permits and not charging nearly as much as NV, and not having these crazy serial number specific registrations) to be recognized in NV.

what is worse to me is that TX recognizes NV but not vice versa as of yet.

The real problem with Nevada CCW is that it is controlled by each county's sheriff not the statewide DPS or Attorney General.

The Nevada Sheriff's and Chief's Association, not DPS, has supposedly made up the list of acceptable states to grant reciprocity. As mentioned above, there is no hint if this list has been made up, if it has gone to the Attorney General, or if it really will be released 10/1.

Our CCW law was cobbled together primarily to give the sheriff's another revenue stream. We defeated a bill in the last legislative session that would have allowed them to more than double the CCW fees for new permits and increase the renewals by nearly a factor of 10!

The NSCA has been pissed ever since. The NSCA is NO friend to the CCW permit holder in Nevada. They tolerate concealed carry, but they really think that they and they alone should be the only ones allowed to carry a firearm in the state.

Also, as mentioned above, please check out my blog that details the ongoing fight to keep and bear arms in the Silver State. Go to SECTION 11
