On the 11 o'clock news tonight on the NYC channels, one of the big stories was while fighting a fire that had spread through a series of row homes, firemen stumbled across an "arsenal" in one of the row homes. Police are investigating. Every news channel was covering this.

What was in the "aresenal"? A shot gun, a rifle, and two handguns.

I heard at least one reporter say, "it is not known if the owner of the arsenal started the fire." As if by owning a very basic collection of firearms makes you a suspect in any crime against people and property in the area.
:cuss: :fire: :banghead: :cuss: :fire: :banghead:

Some people think that guns cloud the mind with violent, hateful thoughts and images.

In reality, it's the newsmedia that does this.

A collection of guns numbering more than two is considered an arsenal in the news media. Sigh. How far we have fallen...

I hope they never have occasion to report on my "arsenal". Five handguns, seven rifles, and probably ~5000 rounds of ammo. No doubt I'm an Al Quaeda splinter cell...

??? That's it? Most people I know have more then that. How much ammo did the guy have?

Classic ''news speak'' crap! Yet again the word ''arsenal'' is totally misused .... and what this guy had anyways hardly even counted as an ''armory'' - the correct word.

The press has much to answer for ..... and is amongst our worst antagonists (well ..... the folk behind the press ..... them as makes editorial decisons).

Oh for media honesty ...... I guess hell will freeze over first!:(

With all those guns, are they sure they didn't stumble onto a National Guard armory or something?

arsenal

Maybe someone should inform the writer of this thing called a dictionary...

Typical NYC news reporting. Anything over 1 firearm is an "arsenal", anything that's semiautomatic is an "assault weapon", any goblin who shoots a gun (of any type) from a window is a "sniper", hollowpoints are "cop killers", etc etc etc ad nauseum.

Oh hell, I have better not have a fire. With a collection of 2 Shotguns, 4 Rifles, and over 20 handguns, what does that make me? Probably a terrorist in their eyes.

Dang, I WISH I had an arsenal...9 handguns, 4 shotguns, 14 rifles (soon to be 16 with the new Enfield and 03A3) and about 5000 rounds of ammo, crap I feel insignificant

FPrice:

It sure does. Obviously you is in trouble boy. Before they come and get you I suggest you move your collection elsewhere. Get rid of it! Most of it is old junk anyway.

Get a big box, pack 'um up, and ship them out to a free country ....

Let me know when they're ready and I will send you my mailing address ... :D

I currently have a UN embargo against my house until I agree to get rid of my weapons of mass destruction. :D

I sit here anxiously loading my Red Ryder in anticipation of the 81st Airborne.

Arsenal: That which includes the "Arse" in front of the camera doing the reporting and the Producer that puts it on the air as news.
