I posted this under general gun discussion but the Mod closed it. Being a new member I guess I don't understand what a general discussion is.

I mean, the post isn't a call for a specific action to be placed by the members, it's just a comment on the actions that some gun owners made and a call to be alert to what the Obama administration will try to do.

Maybe a Mod. could address the question as to why they can't transfer the post (like some of the other boards I visit) as opposed to just closing the thread?

I'm not trying to stir the pot, I'm just curious.

The good thing was the way gun owners immediatly spoke out against his plans. We need to be ready at a moments notice to stand up and speak out on our right to bear arms.

You probably got closed...maybe...because Obama's anti-gun sentiments are about as old as news can get. It is not secret and he doesn't hide it. Yes he has made some "conciliatory" statements about hunters and whatnot but I don't think he is hidding anything...or trying to fool anybody.

I think the new administration has about 1 million things ahead of gun control on their agenda and when they do finally work their way down that list, they'll have the 2nd Amendment and Heller to get past.

People freaked out so bad the week of the election, while not over it most of them, people are kind of tired of hearing about it.

Have you heard anyone in the new Admin speak of gun control as high on their "transition agenda"? If you have enlighten me because I am hearing nothing like that.

Go out and buy yourself a nice gun and some ammo, join the NRA, write your congressman, your senator, and your govenor, take a deep breath, and relax.

This exact same topic has been opened and closed about 30 times. You may want to search before you post. This is a gun board, so most of us are aware of the president-elect's position on guns. In fact, if you've been to a gun store in the last month, it looks like most people are aware of Obama's stance on guns. This has been old news for a long time.

But on that note, I have two things to contribute...

Breaking news: the economy sucks.

I know Obama is anti gun and I have searched the site in the limited time I've been a member and I haven't seen this exact post before.

I just thought it was interesting that he took the comment down and I was trying to highlight the effect that gun owners had when they decided to get involved.

To answer your questions:

1. Obama's political positions are well known. This is not news to anyone.

2. Further comment upon it ends up devolving into a political discussion which we don't do here. Basically, it ends up in a bunch of strongly-worded "from my cold, dead hands" posts and a lot of fist-shaking. This does nothing to advance RKBA.

3. Threads with specific calls for action can be sent to Activism. Threads without specific calls for action will get closed.

Basically, we are trying to avoid the internet trend in which everyone gathers together in some semi-private venue and clucks like a bunch of chickens, but nobody does anything. Either start doing something, or stop clucking.

Fair enough. Come up with something we can do to get involved and make a difference. That thread will remain open.
