I especially love how the President has signed pro-gun legislation into law and this is construed by the NRA as, "waiting to pounce on us at any moment." So ... at what point does this become paranoid nonsense? How many pro 2A actions must the President take before you would stop hoarding ammo?

The proposition that Obama has some sort of pro gun credentials because he signed a bill that happened to have the parks and amtrack rider stuffed into its bilges doesn't hold water.

Look at Obama's record in Illinois and the Senate. Whenever he had the opportunity to vote or express an opinion it was almost always an antigun opinion. He wants the AWB reinstated.

That being said, he's only been in office for a little over one year, and has had his pallet full. His popularity is less than 50% now and he can't have forgotten what the 1994 AWB passing did for Clinton's kongress, so it's doubtful that gun control his a high priority right now. Possibly later in his term if he thinks he can push it ... or if he gets a second term :what: then maybe he will try to shove gun control down our throats.


Don't think so? He and his minions have been busy trying to stuff a hugely unpopular healthcare bill down our throats. I don't think their willingness to commit political seppuku bodes that well for other agendas .... Just my two cents.

Obama is way too busy failing at other tasks he's set himself.

That being said, his joke of an Attorney General, Holder, has already advocated new oppressive gun controls.

AHSA isn't even TRYING any more. They're circling the same toilet bowl that that National Firearms Association disappeared down in the '80s.

You didn't read my post about this debate requiring honesty, did you?

Starting off with the lies. OK, well that's become pretty standard, so at least we know how to deal with it.

Here is some truth for you:

President Obama did NOT sign a "pro gun" legislation. The President signed a credit card reform bill that his party wanted badly. Attached to that was a single rider on the National Park carry, put in by the opposing party.

It's clear that the President isn't "pro gun" about this. Here is what the White House had to say about the gun piece of this legislation:

White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs told reporters during Friday's press briefing, just before the signing ceremony, that Obama would sign the bill with the gun provision included: "Overall, the credit card reform bill is important for consumers and should be signed," Gibbs told reporters.

No mention of the guns. Obama ignored it completely. He was stuck with it, he doesn't support it, by his own words.

Here's a Senator Obama quote. Are you implying that he's had some kind of "spiritual gun awakening"?

OBAMA: Let’s be honest. Mr. Keyes does not believe in common gun control measures like the assault weapons bill. Mr. Keyes does not believe in any limits from what I can tell with respect to the possession of guns, including assault weapons that have only one purpose, to kill people. I think it is a scandal that this president did not authorize a renewal of the assault weapons ban.

If he'll propose one single solitary pro-2A action , I'll pay attention, but he hasn't done that. He's simply signed spending bills into law that had little things in them that he hates, but can't remove.

Neither will ever happen because the President isn't remotely opposed to less gun control.
