offensive billboard?

I don't think it is offensive. Basically any sub-group of society can be harmed when disarmed. I have no problem whatsoever with anyone arming themselves that doesn't agree with me politically, has a different skin color, or goes to a different church, or no church at all.

Gun rights are human rights. I'm no anarchist and I rather enjoy the rule of law. That being said, governments of the world have committed the overwhelming majority of mass violence against human life throughout history, not private citizen-on-citizen violence. The ad above is simple and to the point.

I imagine that the AIs who were unarmed and slaughtered by US troops were far more offended than any of the anti's who saw the sign.

Perhaps the Liberals are being offended for the Native Americans.
Just in case the Native Americans really could give a rodent's posterior.
Of course with the dumbing down of school curriculums (curricula?) and standards most will miss the point of the billboard.

And yes, I do have some Native American ancestors.

I'm native American and I am not at all offended. I have a t-shirt that has basically the same picture and remarks on it.

I don't find that surprising.

Nor do I find surprising the fact that the most vocal "offended party" is a white female social worker who does a lot of her work with native Americans.

I'd point out publicly that it accurately reflects the problem with a central government control of free peoples and serves as a graphic example of the perils of ignoring history.

Well said.

I have a similar tshirt. There is also one that says, "trust your government just ask an indian"

It's not meant to offend but to be a political statement with a reference to American history.

OMG that is so offensive....

How is it offensive?...

I don't know, but it must be offensive somehow!!!

Tuskegee study/experiment. Enough said about trust right there, because .gov has a lengthy history of integrity, right? Talk about commitment...studied the participants to a point of morbidity. Of course, .gov could also have chosen to cure them, but that would not have served the intent of studying to a point of morbidity. Never forget Tuskegee!!! Never trust!!!

My son is Chippewa-Cree and he is offended by codependent, white liberals who don't recognize how patronizing it is to presume to speak for anyone as if they are children who can't think and speak for themselves.

I'm willing to bet that the same people that say it's offensive to native americans are the same people that said obama parading around children to promote gun control was a great idea...

People look at the billboard and really don't put 2+2 together. They see it but, really don't read the message.

I think most of us will find a little injun blood in our lineage. I have Cherokee blood from WAAAAY back so I can say "injun." ;)

And no, I don't find the billboards offensive. History is usually not pretty.

I love that billboard. If anything, that billboard is offensive to everyone except native Americans. Put em up all over America, IMO. Let's see if Americans understand irony. I bet most people wouldn't get it.

I have a t-shirt that has basically the same picture and remarks on it.
I'd love one too. Where did you get it?

I like it and it makes a very valid point. If some people are offended, well, gee whiz, lots of that going around these days. F'em.

I can see why the Anti-gun crowd is offended.

The government that they love and hold dear did wrong by disarming the indians.

It also paints a picture of distrust for that dear government as well as showing that they will not always be there to protect you.

Personally, I find it to be a good history lesson.

Political Correctness at its best/truth.. +1 on the above quote

I'm part Apache.

That billboard literally drips historical truth.

When you rely upon another person for your physical well being, they literally OWN you.

If what I'm saying DOESN'T offend anti-gunners, I know I'm saying the wrong thing.
