I haven't been hitting gun shows as often as I used to. My son is interested in picking up a .308 bolt gun in the near future, what gun show preferably in central Ohio would you guys recommend. I know the Westland mall and lima are this weekend.

I believe you have to be a member to go to those. A buddy of mine says they are the best. I did look there next one is at the end of March.

I haven't been to a gun show in years and there is a reason I quit going. There are no deals to be had there anymore. At least not the ones in SW Ohio.

Certainly there have to be some well stocked LGS in central Ohio. If not, I can let you know where the best ones are in SW Ohio. We have some pretty decent ones, and some pretty crappy ones.

They don't have any scheduled for Washington Court House this year but I've gotten some good deals at the last few they've had there. Small show, more local/small time venders. Westland Mall is hit or miss but mostly miss. Dayton was last weekend as was OGCA in Wilmington. If he's not in a hurry, the Trade Days deal in Lucasville will be coming up sometime around Easter. It's getting as bad as everywhere else but there are deals if you look.

Yea pretty much what every is saying above. I’ve not found a good deal on a firearm at any gun show lately. I mostly go for gun parts and ammo cans….lol

Caveat: I'm a handgun guy so my comments are really more about what I see relative to handguns. I don't really pay attention to long guns at the shows so I can't give a direct opinion on a 308.

I have not been to the Westland event but I don't see any deals at the SW shows in Cincy or Dayton. It's actually worse in that I routinely see prices at those shows that are higher than local gun stores in the area, especially on used guns. It's kind of crazy but I feel like the local shows are pretty hopeless. Because of the popularity of handguns these days, I think you might have more luck finding deals on long guns but I can't say for sure.

OGCA is a good event (vetted members only so not many sketchy types) but I find that the handgun prices there tend to be representative of the "C" word in OGCA. I see even fewer deals at OGCA than the public shows but there are a ton more tables and guns to pick from. I'm also at OGCA usually on Saturday morning when sellers aren't very interested in taking less than their asking price. I'm sure more bargains may emerge on Saturday afternoon and on Sunday.
