Ohio: Suppressors While Hunting Passes Senate

The bill already passed the House and it just passed the Senate. It will have to go back to the House for any last minute changes and then onto Governor John Kasich for signing.

"Under the bill, hunters would only be allowed to use silencers while hunting birds, squirrels, rabbits, and white-tailed deer. Backers of the bill argued that it was an effort to help protect the hearing of hunters."

Not sure why they'd limit the game hunted while using a suppressor. So, then, you couldn't use the suppressor for coyote, groundhog or any other critter? I know a shotgun suppressor was recently introduced, but I don't see it being used mainstream like rifle or pistol suppressors, so...who's using a suppressor for birds and what kind of birds are you hunting? Can you hunt turkey with a rifle in Ohio (can't here in TN)?

Think the governor will sign off if it gets to him?

I was under the impression that you could hunt anything with a suppressor so long as it's legal and you have a valid hunting license

In states that allow suppressors.......

No Hunting anything in these states with a suppressor.

Ohio
Michigan
Maine
New Hampshire
Connecticut

Montana only allows hunting of Varmit Only

The rest of the states that allow suppressors allow hunting with them
