Ok other uses of a gun as a tool?

I've used my Mosin's bayonet as a screwdriver/prybar. The Soviets designed their equipment with utility in mind, that's for sure.

I remember reading somewhere that one factor in providing bayonets with the M16 was so troops stopped bending the barrels prying the straps off of ammo cans or ration cases....

They kept doing it. I read a report about the same issue during Desert Storm.

Hell, one of the reasons why they introduced a thicker barrel when the M16A2 was adopted was probably partly to prevent soldiers from doing that....

A Maverick 88 12 gauge as a boat paddle, and a bb gun as an insecticide.

I remember this from S/Sgt Hedrick, Senior DI, Platoon 167, MCRD 1966. He said, "This is my rifle, this is my gun......................" I refuse to abuse my gun by driving nails with it!!

12 gauge pump to keep snakes out of a boat (they love to hang in trees over the creeks) I've used it to drive nails (steel butt plate) I can agree one could be used as a make shift paddle :p I seen my grandfather break a stuck doorknob off with the stock..... In reality tho none of these uses are what a gun was made for and you really should NOT use a gun for any of these things....except for the snakes that is.

I have used a bb gun to make bug spray straw sized holes in drywall. Also, my cousins once discovered that strike-anywhere match heads from a bb gun are good for lighting fires at a distance. Nearly burnt down their house. Discovered their dad's belt was good for something other than holding up his pants.

I've used a Mosin Nagant as a target de-hanger. One shot, the hanger no longer hangs.
A friend used his as a light switch. Badly adjusted sights, boom, and now the back half of the indoor range is dark.

I've used the 12X scope on my varmint rifle just to look at other things. A fuzzy bump on the horizon turned out to be an abandoned farm implement.

Does that count?

I've used my .45 to punch holes in the sides of steel burn barrels to ventilate them.

Back in the day, I used exploding 12-gauge shot shells to scare geese away from airport runways so that airplanes could land and takeoff without hitting the dang things. Marginally effective, I might add.

There's really no reason to continue this. Guns are for shooting. Their use as improvised tools is neither safe nor very effective.
