I've been watching this space for a little while now, and it looks like we have a decent crowd of Okies (and sympathizers) here. If anybody's interested, I'd love to get together some time. There are several ranges in the OKC area (I'd propose something around here, as it's the middle of the state; also, I live here, and don't feel like driving, so there :neener: ), and plenty of good restaurants/pubs for after-hours entertainment (we even get Shiner up here). Anybody interested?

Oh, and some of us will be headed back to school shortly, and thus have professors to annoy/contradict/expose, so a good "strategy session" (spell that "B-S session") might prove useful.

Any takers?
 
That would be cool. I'm a gun newbie and have a lot to learn. So I'm game for meeting some others who can show me the ropes.

When and Where

Any suggestions on when and where? I usually shoot at H&H these days, but they're not much good for rifles, as their longest range is 30yd. There are two private clubs nearby (OKC Gun Club and Tri-City Gun Club), but I'm not a member of either at the moment (if somebody else wants to handle the official club-blessing, we could do it). I'm told there's a public range down in Slaughterville, but, well, I've been to a few public ranges, and I'm not exactly eager to repeat the experience (who was it that said that the problem with public facilities is that you have to let the public use them?).

Scheduling: I'm pretty flexible. Open to suggestions.

This time of year you don't want any part of Slaughterville, leave it to the weekend deer hunters. Canadian Valley out toward Elreno is my favorite haunt, can handle everything but shotguns, 8 bucks each to shoot all day, but if we got folks coming down from tulsa, that's just that much further for them to have to drive.
 
Okiecruffler, are you talking about the Banner road range ?
Re: Slaughterville, never heard of it. How about the Lexington WMA range. I go there alot and its not hard to take over a whole side of the range with about 8 guests. It has a 100yd berm and I throw clays there too sometimes. I don't have a problem with driving anywhere in the state
'cause I like to travel. I'd drive to T-Town in a heartbeat. It would be fun to organize a THR Okies shoot !
 
Yeah, the Banner road place is where I usually go. And the Lexington WMA is probably the legal name of Slaughterville, but it doesn't sound as cool.
 
Count me in, but I need to know the date a couple of weeks in advance. Just to let my boss(es) know when I'll be sick. ;)

FWIW, I'm a bit below drinking age. :( 21 y.o. minus seven months, but I could easily pass for 24. I do enjoy Shiner, however. :)

Banner Rd. sounds good to me... sure is a lot more hospitable than H & H, even if it is a little out of the way. Never been shooting anywhere else than those two places and a friend's grandparent's farm.

I think other Okies that might be interested are Saddlebum and Azrael256... I'll ask the latter tomorrow if I see him around.
