Boys, today is my birthday!
I got out my old Remington 760, 30-06, hadn't shot it in a few years but it sure used to put a lot of deer down.
Took my old 870 16 gauge and a few rocks (blue rock), you can look up the meaning on Google search.
Took my 686 and some 357 rounds and went out and shot them this morning.
It wasn't the best shooting day, 26 degrees and a brisk crossing wind out of the north but by golly it is my 80th birthday and I wanted to! Yes it was fun to.
Happy birthday. I'd say I want to do the same when I turn 80. But I've had too many times where I should have died to think I'll make it that far.
You made 3 great choices in firearms.

I'm living like every day could be my last. Enjoying every moment. I know the things I do for fun and work have inherent risks that I'm willing to accept. I've crashed snowmobiles. Had a bike lay down on me going through a corner at 80 only to stand back up by a miracle. Survived a gunshot wound. I also train horses and hunt hogs with dogs. That is the wrong attitude. I came within an inch of dying in in '79, literally. One more inch and I would have had my skull split in two. Instead I had a blow out fracture, a skull fracture and a busted brow ridge. I'm now 85 and still kicking. Look at it as if you will live forever. You won't of course but never admit defeat until it actually happens.
Of course we live forever. Only the body dies as it is only a vessel that our essence occupies for our short stay on this Earth. That is the wrong attitude.
