    Sir, I salute you.
You have a couple years on me, still I really do not like cold, or being out in it. But I do what needs done. And you needed to get out and shoot for all your past efforts. I admire you for it.
    Well done! Happy birthday, too.

That is the wrong attitude. I came within an inch of dying in in '79, literally. One more inch and I would have had my skull split in two. Instead I had a blow out fracture, a skull fracture and a busted brow ridge. I'm now 85 and still kicking. Look at it as if you will live forever. You won't of course but never admit defeat until it actually happens.

Happy birthday Bud. Being above ground at 80 is a victory, much less being in shooting shape!

    Happy belated birthday!

Any day of shooting is a good day! Glad you had fun!

Took a couple co-workers shooting last weekend and we had a blast. One had been shooting once before, the other not at all...which was surprising because her dad is quite a hunter, I understand.

We shot steel with 4 different handguns and an AR-15. Colt 1991A1, Beretta 92FS, Walther CCP-M2 (9mm), and Colt SAA. Looked like we might get rained out, but when Saturday finally rolled around, it was sunny, cool, and a slight breeze!

Might to do a turkey shoot next week, too.

I'm living like every day could be my last. Enjoying every moment. I know the things I do for fun and work have inherent risks that I'm willing to accept. I've crashed snowmobiles. Had a bike lay down on me going through a corner at 80 only to stand back up by a miracle. Survived a gunshot wound. I also train horses and hunt hogs with dogs.
It's a fun ride. But dangerous as well.
I may live to 80 and eat and exercise like I will.

I'll be 80 in a couple of months but I've gotten wise enough to wait until good weather to shoot- but wait; maybe I won't be around when spring comes again! o_O Live every day like it was your last one. Happy birthday e rex!

Happy Birthday & Congratulations! I enjoy shooting in the cold. As a dear (Danish) friend stated quite correctly- there’s no bad weather, only inadequate clothing!

Geezers shooting in the cold face unforeseen problems.

I spent 4 hours in a deer stand yesterday. My arthritic fingers fumbled a glove about one hour in, which hit the ground at the ladder base. About 3 1/2 hours in, my blood pressure medication was working hard; man I had to pee. If I held it any longer internal damage would occur. When I stood up, the zipper on my overalls was stuck, so I had to take my spare pair of gloves off to get the zipper open. I fumbled another glove to the ground. Figuring out how to aim in the wind without getting myself or my gloves on the ground wet was a ballistic problem. The gloves and I stayed dry. No deer. Monday is my next chance.

Happy Birthday, from a geezer brother.

A belated Happy B-Day to you sir! Nothing like spending some time outdoors even in cold, chilly weather!

Have fun and enjoy yourself... at age 80 you've certainly earned it!

I turned 80 in June. I have decided that I probably won't buy any more guns but I am going to try to wear out the ones I have before my sons & step-son get them.

Good luck with that. I made the same decision at 80. It didn't last long at all.

Of course we live forever. Only the body dies as it is only a vessel that our essence occupies for our short stay on this Earth.

Happy birthday and congratulations. Way to go. I am 75 and just had a heart attack. It interrupted mt hunting season. I hope my Dr. clears me to hunt before the season is over. I have finally realized that I am mortal after surviving a could have been fatal motorcycle accident and now a heart attack.
I am not done yet Lord willing.
