Club championship trap shoot today, 50 @ 16, 50 @ handicap. 50/50, 45/50 for a first place tie. Lost by a bird in the shootoff to a 40 something kid. At 73 I can stay with em. Still using my 1972 870TB. Shot my average, the kid bettered his by one for the tie. Had a blast.
Shot that TB in both halves of the combo league Thursday and had 25/25 trap, 23/25 skeet.

Good shooting to you Sir!

Our club had it's championship about 3 weeks ago, it consisted of 25 trap, 25 skeet, 25 sporting clay and 25 of shooter's choice. I ended up with a 91, 93 won it. I had a poor day at skeet 22 and 23, which normally I can clean but shot a 24 at trap which is my weakest discipline, and 22 at sporting.

My older son has edged me out a couple of times during summer league. I think he and his brother will each get an 870 set up with Classic Trap wood and an original Stevens 22/410 with tenite stock. Let them enjoy stuff while I can still enjoy them enjoying stuff.

Best summer in a while. 95% average at home club, 94.4% at Peoria summer league running about 96% on trap half of combo league. Shot more than usual, no gun problems, health steady. Confidence good. Time to start getting down to the land and get a couple deer for the freezer.

the seven men I shoot with at the clays games run from 61 to 83, and the 83 year old shot a 25-25 just last week(browning BT-99). browning shotguns are the rule here, with a few other good brand name clay shotguns. eastbank.

We have mostly mid to moderately high end guns, 99s, 100s, Kolars, Beretta, K guns, P guns, a Ceasar or two and on and on. Five of the last six championships at my club were won with 870s and 99s.
High average the last two years was with an 870.
High gun split between a 40-something and a 70-something the past five years.
My feelings are that you can't buy a high score. You need to earn it. Maybe several hundred thousand rounds over almost fifty years with an 870TB has grown my body around the gun. I love shooting on the line against fifty grand worth of guns and taking the meat.

as a lefty I bought a real left hand 870 wingmaster 12ga 3" mag for turkey, I have shot it at trap and have only made a 22-25 with it. I know the gun will do 25-25, I just need more trigger time. my browning single and o/u,s just have me spoiled. my first 25-25 was with a barrowed 870 TB in the mid 60,s. if you want to know if the 870 will shoot, just read about rudy echen. eastbank.
