Have an old Norinco M37 (Ithica M37 copy) I bought decades ago. Still shoots fine, nothing broken except the rear ghost sight ring is loose and will not tighten up. Decided to try and sell it but found out the going rate is around $125........ I paid $200 for it.

Okay since I can't get any real money out of it I decided to "pimp it out". Ordered a Skin Wrap flecktarn wrap, a slotted pic rail, inexpensive red/green dot sight and cut down the huge front sight. I also have some Krylon Dark Earth camo paint for the areas that don't get wrapped.

When I'm done the gun will look similar to this one, kinda, sorta.

Those sights look pretty high. How's the cheek-weld?
It's good. I did replace the stock with a short Coate stock a while back, a 14.5" LOP is way too much for me. Where the butt meets the receiver it's a little smaller but works well for me.

Is this really a smart idea? You have a gun you want to sell, but find out that it’s not worth selling so, just put more money into it. Just playing devils advocate.;)
Hope it turns out nice.
It's more about having some fun with it and it's not a lot of money, I paid $29 for the wrap shipped (on sale & free shipping), a can of paint is $5. Once I'm done I'll have something I really like so what the heck.

I’m surprised the value is that low, looking at the prices Norinco AKs, SKSs, and 1911s are getting.
They haven't made them in years and if you need to replace parts they either have to be machined or find Ithica parts and work the parts to make them fit. If I had tried to sell it during the height of the toilet paper apocalypse I probably could have sold it for $400 - $500, not now.

The flecktarn skin wrap arrived about a week ago, started on the barrel but I just couldn't get it to fit properly. That's what I get for ordering a cheap product, thankfully I didn't spend much for it. The product is Guns Wrap, when ordered it shows Sacramento CA as the location, it's not, it's made in Russia which is why it took so long to be delivered. Unlike the more expensive American made products which are precision cut it's only generically cut for different firearms and not pattern placement numbered, you have to figure out which piece goes where.
Backup plan now is to do a sponge flecktarn pattern using paint.

Here it is so far. Did the base coat in dark earth then ran some strips of brown. I'm picking up some natural sea sponges later today.
