old vs new colt commander

    I have found a mid 80s Colt Combat Commander (like new) and a new Colt Commander 1991 for about the same price. Anyone have an opinion on which is a better deal and what the differences are?
    What years did the quality control at colt get a bad reputation?

    Actually the Series '80 is the "new" Commander. The Commander in Lightweight (alloy frame) has been around since just after WWII.
