I am in my mid fifties and my eyes are not what they used to be. Long time shooter who broke into Bullseye competition. I am aware that I need a red dot sight on a Kimber Classic Gold Match pistol.
I need advice from others who have been down this road.
I have heard that an Ultra Dot 30mm red dot scope is the way to go, However I prefer a smaller RMR mounted right into the rear dove tail. Pros and cons on any sighting system, any slide mount for a 45 ACP. Thank you for your help in advance.

I'm in my 60's. I don't shoot competition but shoot "at" the Bullseye targets at my range. I've gone to Burris FastFire III's on my 22's and 1911's. I don't see the mini RMR's on the winners stand at Camp Perry. Get the III the battery loads from the top. You don't want to remove the red dot to replace the battery.

You see a lot of Ultradots among serious bullseye guys. I agree the bigger 30mm would be nice, but my Smith wouldn't put one on a 1911 slide mount because he thought it was too heavy. I didn't want a frame mount so I went 25mm. I have to really concentrate sometimes so I don't lose the dot.

Ultradots are popular, but I think it's a cost thing. Aimpoints, too. The mini-RMRs...I know Don Nygord was working with them when he passed away. They aren't popular today, but that should not be taken as a condemnation. I would, though, go with a top-flight maker. Trijicon, Docter, or Leupold.
