Mods, feel free to move this to the appropriate spot if need be.

I'm trying to get some OD furniture. I've got some nice, traditional Olive Drab handguards, and I'd like everything to match. The only problem is, what's advertised as "OD" often varies quite a bit in color. I've got a set of grips that were advertised as OD, but they're actually the shade of the "HIGHROAD" in the logo at the top of the page.

Then there's Foliage Green. And something called Sewer Green.

I was under the impression that Olive Drab had an industry-standard definition (Study 42, IIRC), but there appears to be quite a bit of variation in production.

Does anyone know if there's an exact specification for OD? Also, how close is Foliage Green in hue?

(Oh, and if I want to go khaki, I have to consider Tan, Desert Tan, Flat Dark Earth and Coyote Brown.)

Your best bet is to buy one of whats available and test it out. Its really the only way to know for sure. Paint can often vary by lot, so even paint from the same maker can be slightly different.

Oh, and "sewer green" is the color of green you see painted on the roads and sidewalks to indicate where the underground pipes are. Its nowhere near OD.

I have an Armalite M15A4(C) that I wanted a M16A1 stock on, as I prefer the shorter lengths. I used Brownells Aluma Hyde II in OD to paint the GI stock with. While not a perfect match, it came out pretty close, and the Aluma Hyde II is about the toughest paint your going to find for durability.
