Today we are testing the preferred 45ACP ammunition of the local law enforcement community.
Federal Premium 45ACP HST 230gr ammunition.
This test provides valuable information, chronograph data, accuracy data, penetration and expansion data.

In closing it seems for the federal HST to perform flawlessly it needs to be driven to a velocity of 800 to 850fps.

Hmmm, I've been a loyal Winchester Ranger fan since they quit making Black Talons. I been seeing great things in Federals latest HST line,

My department issues the 230 +P HST for the 45 guys. Ive never heard of any failures in our shootings. Always good expansion and penetration.

When explaining the different uses to which a gun can be put and therefore the uses one must consider when purchasing a gun because no gun is all things for every situation for all persons, I tell them if they're considering a purely derfensive gun, it's most like buying a fire extinguisher, something you buy that you want to work should you need it but at the same time you hope you never need it. Yes, I said all that in one sentence.
