quite interesting...I guess it's ventura's show

he has a number of antis on w/o any real argument for why we should be disarmed...

judging from venturas responses to the anti's, I wish he would run for president(at least I had a good impression of him as a gov.)...

really?
granted I only saw the last couple minutes of the segment, and I guess don't know too terribly much re: him

but he was defending firearm ownership, saying he himself has always had guns...

I read a playboy interview where Ventura took some antis to task for the assault weapons ban, saying that they didn't know what they were talking about. He was also pro CCW in his campaign for governor.

Ah, Jesse... what a governor he was.

Jesse was denied after he was elected governor, I believe. He was vocal about CCW at that time, but didn't really advocate for the bill after he eventually got his own permit. He worked with the legislative authors and got some language in the bill he wanted before he would commit to sign it. I think he would have signed it had the bill passed during his term.

Part of this is from memory, so it's suspect. Jesse had a radio talk show before he ran for governor, and he regularly talked about firearms, mostly military stuff, and how the government should not restrict gun rights.

Then he got elected, and his attitude changed about 179-degrees. There was some fuss after he initially was denied on his CCW, but his concerns ended at the tip of his nose. When he was in a position to make a difference, he did nothing to promote gun rights and I actually have the impression he did not want a CCW bill to pass. If Series 70's recollection is more complete than mine, I suspect the language he insisted on was something he knew would never pass.

Now that he's got his own show again (which is itself a joke: it was supposed to be 5 nights/week but he was so bad MSNBC delayed it about 6 months and then made it once weekly, and the debut got a worse share rating than Aunt Emma's Sewing Tips, or something like that) I'm not the least bit surprised he's playing to his preferred image, rather than to his reality.

Here is a thorough, unedited, and complete list of everything Jesse cares about: (1) Jesse, (2) money (see #1), and (3) maybe his family, so long as it doesn't interfere with #1.

Then he got elected, and his attitude changed about 179-degrees.

True -- He turned into a politician after he ran as a semi-joke and actually got elected.

While he was Gov., he DID say something along the lines of "maybe the teachers should have been armed" after those idiots at Columbine killed people.

I think Jesse is a pro-gun guy, but he also rants about how "hunting isn't a sport...if you want to make it a sport, hunt people like I did when I was a Navy SEAL."

Jesse is all about Jesse. But at least he doesn't pretend that's not the case.
