If you could shoot just one gun for say the next ten years, and the only consideration was the shear pleasure of using it, what would you pick? You, the gun, limitless ammo and range time. Forget SD, hunting, and any other practical application besides your fun or interest in using it.

"You mean ANY gun I want????"

Make mine a GE Minigun, reworked by Dillon, mounted in the back of my pickup, with a few million rounds pre-loaded in belts stored at home. :D :D :D

I'm sorry, but I couldn't fathom not using it for self defense.

Either way it would have to be my current carry choice, HK USP C .45 ACP. Easy to shoot and makes nice big round holes in everything.

Your question really got the wheels turning!

None.

That's right, none!

Half or more of the fun I get out of shooting is in training to perform HD, SD, etc. The pressure and need to perform in real situations is a lot of what makes shooting fun.

I don't compete because it's, well, boring. I don't know how many thousands of rocks, sticks, weeds, pieces of junk, and other targets of opportunity I've shot and shot at in the desert as a child, teen, and young man, and it was all fun.

But somehow now the thought of punching holes in paper with no pressure of need, just doesn't ring my chimes.

I guess the closest I can compare the thought to is coming back to the U.S. after flying hot planes in a war zone for a few years. I went through all the hoops to fly for the airlines, considered the life I'd lead, and thought "what fun would that be...?" Instead, I started a business, and had a blast trying to meet the payroll a couple of times a month, and generally enjoyed every minute of living on the edge. There's nothing quite like looking back and wondering "how did I ever pull THAT off?"

More to the point of YOUR question, I wouldn't commit to ANY gun for 10 years. Too much is happening in firearms and materials technology, and I'm having too much fun exploring it.

So now, my answer is "no thanks." Sorry!

m-16a2 full auto selector not 3 round burst remanufactured to 6mmSAW. Then it would be how it should have been manufactured in the first place

of course it would have
screw on silencer
proper flash suppressor
wood grip, stock and hand guards

I hate these one gun threads.....

.... because they are so unrealistic. I love guns and I love the variety of guns. Granted I have my personal favorites - so IF I was limited to one I would pick from the following short list:

- Colt M16A2 "commando" shorty - mine is with full auto parts, no 3 round burst for me.

- 1911 pattern guns. Numerous shapes and sizes.

- HK P7. I love 'em all, the M8 and the M13, but my favorite P7 is the PSP. So damn flat and snag free.

- S&W Centenial snubbies. 640, 642, 340, they are all great "always" guns.

- Kimber 22 SuperAmerica. A fine precision 22 for a lot of casual shooting.

Quite possibly my

Dan Wesson pistol pac. (homemade) complete with 2.5", 4",6",& 8" barrels (and 2 4" shrouds one vent heavy, one vent). 2 sets of grips(factory and hogue size small) a dozen front sights . Its a very verstile package. :D

A mini-gun mounted in a Blackhawk. That way I could fly around and find targets to shoot all the time. Fly it over water and watch the tracers skip all over the place. Shoot up old abandoned houses. Cut down some trees. Shoot at soda cans. See what MOA it gets at 100 yards on paper for a 5 second burst. 10 years would be a good amount of time to dream up things I could do with a GE mini-gun. Now would it be 5.56 or 7.62? I would probably want 7.62.

Just one gun? :what: It'd have to be a Beretta -- though can't decide if it'd be an Elite II, Cougar or 92FS Full size Special Deluxe. :scrutiny: OK...I'll go with the Special Deluxe 92FS!:D
