One lower reciever so many options

I just got a lower reciever, and Ive been trying to decide what to make with it. I already have a Bushmaster AR-15 that I use as a coyote gun, so I want something a little different. I considered going with an M4 so I can just have a gun to run rounds through. But with high cost of rounds I dont need that. Just thought it would be cool to have. Ive considered the .450 Bushmaster round, 6.8 SPC, .50 BEO, 7.62x39mm. And im sure there are more out there. But I guess I wanted to get a general vote of what others would do if they had a lower reciever to play with. It will be a few months before I do anything with it due to having to pay for college and all that fun jazz but will be a long term project. Let me know what you would do and why.
 
Depends on what you see yourself doing with it. There are many other options too. If you just want to blast, there is 7.62 and 5.45 x 39 or .223. Some great, big bore calibers for brush gun use like the .50 you mentioned and the .450 Bushmaster and .458 SOCOM.

I voted 6.8 SPC myself. If you start using the 90 gr Speers or can load the Sierra varminters you may never use your .223 again for coyotes. 110 gr Accubonds, Sierra ProHunters, and some of Barnes' offerings are great for deer as well.
 
If cost of ammo is really a concern, forget .450 Bushmaster . 50 BEO and 6.8SPC.

7.62x39 is different and cheap, possible magazine issues are the main draw back, which isn't a big deal on a range only gun.

M4 5.56 is the safe choice and you won't need more mags.

I've got one of the CNC Machine 7.62x25 uppers, but its not cheap, although the ammo sure is if you don't mind cleaning after shooting corrosive ammo (the only cheap kind for 7.62x25).

A 5.45x39 upper is another choice for cheap corrosive surplus ammo, and these don't seem to have the mag issues the 7.62x39 guns do.

I've never encountered corrosive 7.62x39 cheap enough to bother with compared to just buying Wolf.
 
Ammo prices dont effect me much because I reload. I know that those prices have gone up as well but reloading in is half the cost. The other thing i cant really decide about is what I would use it for. I already have the AR-15 that is used for varmit. I have a Ruger M77 270 Win. for deer. My next gun im lookin for is for either elk or bear. Ive been leaning towards the 450 bushmaster for that. I just dont know how accurate it is and how effective it would be. Ive decided that im picky when it comes to what gun i want. I really want one of every caliber but that will be a lifelong project.
 
How bout a Bohica upper :what: (.50 BMG)
An maybe an A2 stock filled with lead.
It Should work decent for 'yotes. :cool:
