Since I have had the carry license I NEVER got a ticket.

That's the point I keep trying to make to people. Both here and in Georgia, it seems that a CHL/permit gives one immunity from tickets.

It doesn't work all the time. :(
A friend's wife just got a ticket for changing lanes without signaling and last year a speeding ticket.
He got a speeding ticket last year.

I told them at least they had a chance to show someone their carry license. :)

On a LEO thread, on another site I asked the LEO's if, on a simple traffic stop, they tend to let CHL people off with a warning.
Almost all said they would.
But that's not very accurate since it was a gun related web site.

I have to tell you that MA isn't necessarily as bad as many make it out to be . I'm pretty sure that I can carry in more places than you in TX
I'm ready to be corrected. I for one have never considered Massachusetts a gun friendly state, but then I don't live there. I'll admit that just knowing the leftist leanings of many of your politicians (Kennedy, Kerry, Frank, Meehan, et al.) has perhaps lead me to the erroneous conclusion that life for a gun owner is somewhat restrticitve, but then again, I don't live there.

I had excellent results with my CHL until recently. In two weeks I got two tickets, one in Oklahoma (90 mph), and in Austin (50 in a 35). Fortunately the Austin cop made a mistake and I got out of the ticket completely, the OHP Trooper was great and knocked it way back to minimum and it was set up to not go on my record. I attribute the good service to the CHL.

It's funny , the greater proportion of people here are cringing and whinging bleeding heart liberals but the simple fact of the matter is that they all think that _everyone_ here thinks like they do and therefore see themselves as activists against all of "you " * elsewhere in the States and never stop to realize that it's perfectly legal to carry concealed and own *assault rifles* here ! Just one anecdote : I was in line , 2 behind a plain clothes tribal officer who was wearing his miniGlock at 3:00 getting ice cream . As soon as he departed , you should have heard the lips flapping about * Now they're carrying weapons to get icecream ...* and I explained to them that he was a LEO and therefore entitled : that I was actually wearing my Sig 2340 at the time would never have occured to them !
If you'd like , I think I still have a copy of our newspaper you could see from a year or so ago with an article that was actually gun friendly and also mentioned that Martha's Vineyard has a history of being more so than most of MA ( since this is the only place I've lived here , I can't speak to the rest of the State ) . The article points out the problems gun owners have of local issuance : that is , one of the town's on the island' s CoP doesn't think anyone should own a handgun while another is of the "shall issue" belief so problems with obtaining a License to Carry actually come about due to town level law enforcement , not by our laws . On some issues , such as which handguns are approved for sale , we're limited by rather rediculous laws but once one has their LTC we have more freedom to carry than many . The actual process of obtaining a license and buying handguns is actually easier here than it was for me living in NC and unlike there , I can carry in malls , restaurants etc . If Chiefs of Police actually followed the laws and granted them to people who for no reason should be denied , it actually wouldn't be that gun un-friendly - not that it's in any way perfect but it isn't nearly as bad as its made out to be .

That said : this is typical of the attitude here http://goal.org/Alerts/mayaaalert.html and yes , we have some real doozies for pol's . You'd still think that Teddy walked across from Chappaquiddick according to many :D ( about a mile from my house actually !)

*you* meaning backwards Southerners , cowboys and assorted NRA facists - all those types of people that would ever own a gun

He said "Ok. By the way, what are you carrying?" I told him a 1911. With a smile, he handed me back my DL and CHL and said "Good man!" I thanked him for his courtesy and drove off.

But did you show off and tell him it was a Wilson?

:D

Thumper,

It does not work all the time but most of the time.

Last Oct. when Nick and I were driving back from Co. we got pulled over in Cisco, TX. I was doing 73 in a 65 at 3 AM in the morning, and no cars past us the whole time we were pulled over.

I gave the officer my DL and CHL and when he asked do you have a gun with you, I said "sure do, I have a .357 buried somewhere under the two 30.06s and the bow in the back."

I still got a $100 dollar ticket. :cuss:
