It seems that with all of my handguns, I'm in need of some ICORE gear. I'm a big guy and like the fit and feel of "N" frame S&Ws. My Model 25 is a real pretty blue and I don't want to bang it up with competition. I presently reload for both .45 ACP and .38 Special, but will buy another set of dies..etc.. should the need arise.

Looking at the 5" P.C.: 625 and 627s in 38/.357 and 38 Super.

Six shot or eight?

If eight, which 38.

If 38/357, which of the two PC guns offered?

I'm interested in any comments as to why you went with one of these guns. Right now, figure the 38 Super is out unless there is good reason to keep it. I like reloading .45, but 38 Special isn't far behind. Anyway, I'll let this one float and thank Guy Meredith for some good advice locally.

Any comments?

As an ''N'' frame fan ...... and a lover of my M27 ... my choice would be for the 627 ..... no contest!!

Great ''feel'' to this genus ..... pretty tough, and overall .... just so sweet to shoot.:) Can't say much more really!

I shoot a 625 5" in ICORE and often feel at a disadvantage considering most people there are shooting 8 shots.. Sigh, ICORE has now turned into an IPSC equiptment game. Anyway, I would go for an 8 shot, so you're not 2 shots down from everyone else.

I did work on a couple of friends 627's, and thought they were every bit as good as my 625s. I did not test them at 50 yards. At 25 yards they were great and the little trigger jobs I did made them every sweet. My one problem is that I really don't care for the 8 shot moon-clips when compared to the 6 shot ones. I just cant work them as fast.

I have been looking at getting one of S&W's new 686 super for IDPA, it looks like a great gun. Six shot, L frame, moon clips, 4" bbl what more could you ask

Depending of the game you want to play...

627 8 shot if you can use it and it gives an advantage

If your looking at IPSC revolver or IDPA, I would go with the 686 super or a 610

Of course I already reload for these thats a plus

They only let you load six for IDPA right? Barrel length is currently set at 4" max too I think.

Sure..it will take a few weeks to get it. Now for the belt, holster and moonclip pouches.

I hear ICORE likes the 8 shooters. I've always kind of thought if 8 rounds of .45 ACP was good, then 8 rounds of .357 should be good too...

And a blued 3.5" to 4" N frame 8 shot .357 would be lots of fun in general. I just wish Smith would put night sights on the 3" PC M66 they got approved here in CA. I don't like that blaze orange front sight at all. But then I didn't care for Glocks at one time either.....
