This is the High Road. We don't rejoice in violence, nor condone reckless behavior. Those are not things we should "lighten up" about.

but it would be ok to shoot 1/100 of a second after any part of the burgler goes through the broken door?

I thought it was a well done commercial and shows that you don't have to be a victim. And in NC if you shoot someone actively trying to break into your home you are justified. BG called and made a threat, cut the power to the house, had a weapon, and was trying to get into the back door. So YES I would want my wife to defend herself (right through the back door). Go FULL AUTO out the back door? No she is to well trained for that, she knows that a simple double tap would do.

Great commercial, I wish more gun stores had the guts for commercials like that.

Also, let's have a little less "I don't like that. It's not HIGH ROAD!!"

We're all well aware of the title of the forum, no need to invoke it so often. The High Road is in no danger of becoming ARFCOM.

**Yes you are.. lol

Quote: OK I'm not sure this is appropriate here, but it's and advertisement for a gun store **and being an advertising professional, I must say it's one of the best I've ever seen.

...

** you being a advertising professional, shows, as, seriously, this is "overkill" and as mentioned, correctly, as seen, she unloads an automatic weapon, and the guy goes down, but the bullets keep flying, past him, and God knows where too..

This is not a good advertisement for selling legal guns, nor the correct usage of them, let alone, a "legal" semi-auto rifle, and how it should have been used.

But like any good salesman's job, they're taught to keep asking for the sale until they are told to "take a hike".. or have the door slammed shut in their face, or they walk out..

You're doing your part, keep on trying to sell it to us viewers, no matter, but the bad news is, as Jack, (of Jack-In-The-Box) would say:

~ Martha, draw up the new employee's severance papers ~

Because with any purchase, one gets a free rock..

That hits the customers right in the head, and seals the sale.. lol, as having lost one's intelligence while, first, testing the free rock on themselves to see if it will cause, momentary, lack of, intelligent, thought, and buy, buy, buy.

In all, I give it 2 rocks, one for the laugh.. and the other for the logical thoughts it brought out in me.. as to, where I would not buy and, tell a friend not to buy there..

Otherwise, NO-SALE ;)

Moved from S&T to GGD. This isn't really S&T material.

I don't have a problem with the commercial. It's advertising; it's trying to be sensational. I like it a whole lot better than those silly ADT commercials.

Firstly, that place is out of business. The ex-owner is a sensational nitwit who's been discussed at length around here. He finally dropped off the radar after his last incident. Not sure how it ended up. Search for "Super Dell", see if it comes up. There was even a question about his eligbility to purchase firearms, much less run a class III dealership. No matter, the place is under better ownership now.

Now, my smartassed comment.....
Judging by the commerical, I bet they sell Extreme Shock ammo!
:neener:

I think her having a full auto was perfect, as it would have had a much more serious and realistic tone if she had used a handgun. The full auto was the last thing someone was expecting to see (and that was the point).

I can see what you're saying. It's a counterpoint to the security commercials that feature the helpless woman cowering in fear. But folks get upset about it is we're dealing with VERY REAL FIREARMS here, not make believe ones. The line is crossed when you have a gun store advertising real firearms by using a commercial that seems to endorse the most outrageous behavior on the part of a gun owner. I'd suggest some of Oleg's work as a more effective and responsible counterpoint to the myths.

$0.02

those who don't think we should "lighten up" are the people who have to be told that the car commercials are "professional drivers on a closed course".
its just a commercial.
now on the serious side I just hope hubby or boy-friend was not acting out some fantasy!!!!!!!:neener:

It's satire...

That's exactly how I wish EVERY horror movie would run. Funny as heck!

one-shot-one: exactly!

You hope for your wife to spray automatic fire through a door at the burgler still outside the house?

Through a glass window where I can clearly see the burglar attempting to open the door? Yes, sure. Why in the world wouldn't you?
