Remington 700 in 7mm is my favorite. My Rem 788 in 243 is a close second because it is so short, 22" barrel makes it really easy to carry handle.

Except for the HS Precision part I'd say that's a great choice.

Couldn't bring myself to buy a product from a company that accepted an endorsment from Lon Horiuchi.

Heck I feel bad about continuing to drive a Dodge pickup. Wish I had the resources to replace with something equally capable from a non-goverment owned company.

They make a fantastic gun, with the bolt on the correct side (left) in the caliber I want.

If they had actually apologized, and been more like Zumbo after he got called to the carpet I'd be a whole more supportive of their company. It doesn't matter so much the mistakes you make as it does how you respond when it's pointed out. Zumbo screwed up when he made his disparaging comments about AR-15's and similar rifles. But he redeemed himdelf afterwards by embracing them and letting go of his silly prejudice against them. If HS Presicion had been similarly contrite I'd seriously consider one of their rifles or stocks.

Remington 7600 in 30-06. Good for brush. Good for fields. Excellent LR accuracy with the right ammo. Very dependable. Round is more flexible than any other.

That reminds me ... I need a 7600 in 30-06. I've convinced myself.

one gun for whitetail

I've only hunted for them in Wisconson[tornado damage,redbrush etc]and if hunting for meat...[there are a lot of good ones mentioned]I choose Browning 1886 in 45-70.Using 400gr wheelweight slugs you can shoot them end for end and still eat it. For those of you that think it's over the top,the velocity is not going to turn everything to mush,it will penetrate,and the 86 carries well if you don't mind the weight.

Remington 7400 in 30.06....hands down this gun has killed more deer than any other gun in the woods.

Oh, I also forgot to mention that the largest Buck I've ever seen taken in the Woods was a non-typical 236 and it was taken with a 20 gauge with a foster slug.
