Hey everyone!

I'm looking to buy a new gun. This'll be the first gun I've ever bought myself (my dad has a couple). Unfortunately, our local gun stores don't have what I want, so I'll be buying offline.

I know about Buds, does anyone have a list of similar places?

I'm looking for a Ruger Blackhawk Convertible 45 colt/45 acp. (Blued with a 5.5 inch barrel) Revolver if that matters.

Thanks!

L

Try Davidson's Gallery of Guns. You can put in your zip code and they will find your local FFL and calculate the Final cost to you.

The only place I know of that gives you a true TOTAL cost including tax and fees. Also has their own lifetime guarantee. Prices are usually very competative

Two of my favorites are Grabagun.com and CDNN. CDNN has an online catalog and the inventory is a little limited, but the prices are good as is the service. My favorite is Grabagun. A flat $5.99 shipping rate and a pretty good inventory. They do take three days to process and ship your order but they are good to work with and will send email updates including a tracking number.

I was looking for a Ruger Blackhawk 45 Convertible 5-1/2" model and found it for a great price on Gunbroker.com. You can find some good deals if you look. There are private sellers but the majority are gunshops.

Good luck and I hope you like yours as much as I like mine.

Thanks for the tip about gunbroker! Boy that is beautiful. Can't wait for mine! I don't want to ask how much you paid, but what would be a reasonable deal to you? Where did you find those beautiful grips?

I paid $430 for it and the grips were on it. The gun was made in 94' and I think4 those were the stock set for them. I don't feel the need to change them. The new Convertibles have the plastic panels on them and I really don't like them. But new grips are widely available. I looked on gunbroker and the prices varied but you should be able to find one for aprox ~$500.

impactguns.com has a decent (not as good as buds) selection of firearms and they ship in reasonable time so I'd recommend them, but still I'm pretty partial to Buds and they have the gun you want. Also there is centerfiresystems.com, however they focus mostly on non mainstream firearms but still they have a few ruger wheelguns.

If you check on gunsamerica.com for Robertson's Trading Post, they are an amazing seller with good prices and great customer service.

Right now Davidson's gallery of guns has 6 in stock blued Blackhawks w 4 5/8'" barrell in 45colt/45acp.

the TOTAL price after ALL shipping and taxes range from $539 to $600 in my area, depending on the FFL I choose.

It does not look like Buds has any right now

Thanks again guys. I saw the 4 5/8 inchers...but they don't look right to me somehow. The way the ejector rod housing ends with the barrel bothers me. The 5.5 inch looks better to me. Sometimes I see 7.5 inch convertible models, but ruger doesn't list them on their site. Are they just an older model?

Thanks again guys! My local gun show had very few revolvers...even less SA, so those are literally a crap shoot.

Unfortunately, our local gun stores don't have what I want, so I'll be buying offline.

Did you ASK your LGS if they could order it for you? Just because it might not be in the display case, doesn't mean they can't get it

I've used Hinterland Outfitters a couple of times with good results.

Good selection, prices are hard to beat. Unless I'm buying something pretty common that any LGS will probably stock at a competitive price, I'll probably continue to use them for all of my purchases.

I did ask them. They never replied to my email. It's most likely for the best. They usually sell at or near MSRP.

They never replied to an email? Try calling and talking to them - only then will know for sure - in fact, get a good price from online and see if they will match it or get close enough

Remember - if your LGS an similar places go out of business, you won't have anyone to do the transfer for you - at least you can say you tried

Wow. I called my LGS and they had one in stock! They said they'd give me a deal. Only $600.00. Not bad...but still 75 more than what I find online.
