It's an interesting question. Down here there's all sorts of LEO's that OC without necessarily having a badge visible. Nobody gives them a second look, but they're all usually wearing slacks, dress shirts & ties. Basically, the look like LEO's.

I'd imagine that if you dressed the same way, with a "cop style" gun, you'd probably get hassled less than wearing your laundry day clothes while packing a colt peacemaker in an 1800's style holster.

When I open carry I carry a Glock 27 on the belt at 3:00 in a Kydex internal retention holster. Most of the time i'm wearing jeans (clean, pressed without holes), polo shirt and boots in a neat manner. I do notice though that I get fewer sneers whenever I wear a regular shirt and tie. Other than a few stares i've experienced no real incidents overall. I always carry my handy little Novatac EDC 120P flashlight in a black nylon pouch on the belt over my left hip so i'm thinking it's assumed by many folks that i'm either a cop or security.

One humorous comment I remember hearing from one lady was that "cops should be required to conceal their guns when not in uniform". I then replied that " i"m not a cop". You all should have seen her eyes as she walked by:eek:

most of the time i conceal, but some days i wear a full safariland duty belt with a SIG P226, and some days i wear a bianchi 13 shoulder holster with a 1911. neither one gets comment.
