I have an itch for another hand gun,and based on what market is for this particular rifle,makes or brakes if it happens or not soooooooo could have some input,please,don't worry you won't hurt my fellings,let her rip!

Ruger M77V bull barreled Varminter,beautiful blueing and rifleing,minor scuffs to the stock,about 1980ish if I remember.Chambered in 25-06 and topped off with a Burris Signiture series
scope with 6x-24x magnification,slip cover for the scope and hard case for the whole thing.Over all 95%.I don't have pics.....yet,just testing my ball park buying power.Just sits in the safe,I have another 25-06 in 1906 Springfield with a Untrel on it,so I'm not giving up the caliber.

guns like that are marked in the ballpark of $500 at the gunshop i was last in. 'course, those are usually w/ garbage scopes on it.

the problem w/ selling your rifle w/ the scope on it is that you'll need to find somebody who's willing to pay what the scope is worth... it could make a difference of getting another $100 or so. but... if you were selling the gun to me, i'd ask you to keep the scope and shoot me a better price on the rifle, or take a monster hit on the scope's value (i'm not a burris fan 'tall). so, in order to get top dollar, you'll either need to part the rifle from the scope, or find a buyer who likes your whole package...

without the scope it's a $300-$325 rifle, you'd get maybe an extra 100 with the scope. I NEVER sell a quality scope with a rifle... you're just gonna lose too much money. An el-cheapo on a $200 lever action maybe.

Only problem as I see it is that 25-06 is a great deer caliber (and Elk too for me but others would disagree) it's "varmint" qualities leave a lot to be desired. First it kicks too much for any sustained varmint or target work, uses too much powder to push a bullet twice the weight you need for varmint work... And in the case of a heavy barrel gun (like yours), it's really too damn heavy to tote around in the woods all day for either big game or "walking" varmint hunting... heavy barrel guns are good for the bench or a praire dog town (still on a bench or some such rest).

And Alas, most "varmint types" want a Remington or a Savage as they tend to be more accurate right out of the box.

Thank Gents,whats fair for the scope on it's own?It has a 50mm lens and target knobs,excellant over all.Not trying to get rich, but I've got the hots for a used Sig 239

scopes are really hard to value... how old is the scope? how many improvements has burris made, since you originally got the scope, to similiar scopes (lenses, coatings, mechanical abilities)?

new burris sig selects 6-24x44 (no 50's that i know of) are running $450-ish. since burris just has the 44's in the sig selects, i assume it as an older model. if it is older, you can figure you're doing well to get 50% of what its going for new. also, most shooters are wanting matte finishes. if yours is a gloss finish, you may not be able to sell it easily.

maybe trudge the works into the shop and see how close they can get you on a trade?

You might check auctionarms.com or gunbroker.com; or possibly the buy/sell/trade on THR. You might even find one selling in PRK to give a better local value.

Take off the scope, pick up a cheap BSA or Simmons for $20, sell the rifle for $350-$400 to an individual in the paper or walk around the gun show with a sign.....A dealer will want to give you $250-$300 tops....
Learned a long time ago, you never get your money out of a scope on a rifle.

I agree about selling the scope separately. You'll still probably take a hit on it, but it won't be as bad as selling them together.

Someone will want the scope, not the rifle; someone else will want the rifle, not the scope.

I recently found a Marlin with a Bushnell Elite 3200 on it; what I paid was like buying the scope and getting the rifle for free.
