Opinions on the best Hi-Cap pistol in 9mm

For open carry and home use, I'd go with a full size 9 mm and find the one that feels best in your had. Take the top two or three of those and try and test fire and go with that one.

 

Well I sold my PPQ, great trigger but that was about it for me. I went back to a Glock 19 gen 4. Got the ghost mag with a +3 for bedside. and had a few 19 mags from before. I shot it out of the box, and it was "like all the other glocks I own and have owned" flawless, POA every time. range was no problem out to 25 yards. It may not be the best at everything, but it does everything well. Now some Night sights and perhaps a laser. With the stock mag I can carry it unlike the Walther. The back straps are really useless for me, as the stock gun fits my hand just like the gen 3's and gen 2 do.
I am not saying it's the best, but the best for under $600.00 perhaps it may be, the trigger is far less gritty than others I own, and recoil seems less also. It's like seeing an old friend. it just works. It isn't a high end 1911, but that's not what I was after, I wanted 17 rounds in a small light package, and with the +3 mag, I got just that, 19 rounds of reliable pistol.
That makes 3 now, the 26, 19, and 30S. Guess I just like Glocks.

The answer starts with "CZ" but the last bit is all personal preference.

 

Best hi-cap 9

My best hi capacity 9 is an M & P Full size. It has been flawless for me since new in 2009. It has a magazine that looks like it belongs unlike another popular brand as an after thought. It has a natural grip angle and really feels good. Another thing it is AMERICAN made and the company has been in business since the 1850s.

 

Haven't owned every 9mm, so "best" isn't a place I can go, but I can say the Ruger SR9c can take 17 round mags and may be one of the best hi-cap options for compact concealed carry. My CZ-75's are probably even better, quality-wise, but steel construction makes them heavier for carry. Taurus PT 111-g2 is my current carry, though, as it's an excellent gun that's even smaller than the SR9c. Only 12 rounds, though. My Taurus PT809 holds 17 rounds, but may be too big.

I'd start at the Ruger SR9c. Best wishes.

Best all around hi cap nine means a lot more to me than "How it feels in my hand" or which one you "Shoot Best". I'm fond of my CZs, my HiPower, my 1911s. They all have better ergonomics than anything else I've shot, and I shoot them well. They are all rugged and reliable. I believe any of the available platforms can be shot well if one is willing to put in the time, regardless of how it feels or looks.
Just as important, or possibly more so, is reliability, durability, user serviceability, and logistics. The one pistol platform that embodies all these qualities, is the Glock. (I'm still shooting a CZ in the match this weekend!)

My favorite full sized 9mm gun to shoot has been the S&W M&P 9L.

My LEAST favorite the Beretta 92.

I've owned or at least fired just about all the "major" models out there (with the notable exception of the Springfield XD series which I really want to try).

 

I'm not surprised to see lots of "votes" for Glock -- they're not for me but I can't argue the upsides... I AM surprised to see so few mentions of the Springfield XDm when discussing "best" high capacity 9mm... IMO they are genuinely the best + they absolutely have more capacity than almost everything else mentioned...

 

The list here is pretty long and debate can be endless. What's the best sports car? What's the best pickup? What's the best ED drug?

For me, "best" means most reliable that I shoot well. Hi Power and CZ75-B are pretty much hand in hand there. Both of mine have been 100% reliable. They are not light weight by any means.

I despise Glock. Not because they aren't everything the fan boys claim, they are, but they do not feel good in may hand. I don't own one but I have probably fired 5k rounds through various calibers and never really liked the feel.

If Hi Point held more rounds....

 

I have several STI's myself including a VIP that I carry but even though they look almost identical once you feel one you can tell the SV is on another level of quality over the STI.

 

Guess I looked at SVI and thought STI. I agree with the comparison. I am a fan of STIs, and haven't allowed myself to consider SVIs. The SVIs are indeed fine quality pistols. If money were no object, I'd likely have a safe full.

Well, by "high capacity" I'm assuming your mean standard capacity. And by "the times we live in" I'm assuming you mean, "enjoying the lowest per capita violent crime rate in 20 years.

On that note, I like the VP9.

 

BHP/P35. Feels like a used bar of soap in my hand and points perfectly. The MKIII is ready to go out of the box.The trigger may be a bit heavy for some(7lbs),but they are generally crisp and no creep.

Glocks,Sigs,Hks are all great guns,but I always reach for my BHP.

 

More than 33+1?

 

IMO a magazine that sticks several inches out of the bottom of your Glock doesn't really count when discussing "best high capacity 9mm pistols". (+ 33rd mags are available for other pistols as well, including Springfield)

 

If you can conceal a 33-round mag as a spare somewhere on your person, more power to you. If you can conceal a 33-round mag as a primary, then your name is Andre and you hit people over the head with folding chairs.

 

If you want an SD gun that holds 30+ rounds I think you will need to go to the KelTec PMR-30.
It's a bit of a step down from a 9mm and it's not a Glock...

 

I put the night sights on last night, and my TLR 4, came in a few days ago, so now it's complete. I pop off the tlr4, throw in a stock mag and carry it as my primary , in a leather IWB holster that is 25 year old, "but works best. I still carry my PM9 with 2 spare mags in a little belt pouch and I am good to go.
These 20 oz Gen 4 guns are extremely easy on the carry end. Same goes for my 30 S, that they made lighter than my gen 3 "I guess because they fussed with it so many times, even though it's a gen 3. I may alternate with my 26 during daylight hours as it is a no extras gun stripped down for straight carry with 2, 19 mags as backup.
Hey guys, it works for me, and that is what counts with your carry,. Same platform same grip same controls. Nothing to get concerned with, I do not like safety's on any guns that aren't range guns, started out with revolvers in the late 60's and a glock is as close to a revolver as possible in a semi auto gun, just the grip is different, I want to pull and fire in one motion no thought or time for anything else.
Accuracy is as good as possible with my eyes, that's wht the laser/light, for night time. And the night is a must on any gun IMO, "they just work". The great thing on glocks is you can put in the front sight yourself avoiding a gunsmith charging you for doing it, I got the Metropolight for $35 dollars on Amazon, no tax, no shipping, got the TLR there also, same deal $105.00, free ship and no tax, can't beat the prices.
If I get my front sight on something, it's all over, in combat sometimes it's just not possible to get a perfect sight picture with both.
