Specifically on a 1911 in 38 Super, I'm contemplating installing a Trijicon RMR on this particular gun- 20210822_133512.jpg
But I don't really wanna have the slide milled, and don't want to have the frame drilled for a red dot mount.
Has anyone used the EGW mount that goes into the rear sight dovetail? I don't doubt that the Trijicon will handle the recoil, but curious as to whether they're prone to coming loose, losing zero, etc...on that type of mount. I'd rather buy another slide but the SIG 1911's are kinda picky about those from what I've heard.

The EGW mounts work better than just about any of the rear sight mounts, including those by the dot manufacturer.

But they do put the dot way above the normal sight line, making it harder to pick up.

Pretty much identical to what I had in mind. Did the height difference relative to the factory sights take some getting used to or was it a smooth transition? I wouldn't think it would be any worse than suppressor height sights...but that's just a guess.
No issue at all

I have the EGW on a 1911 SA in 45 acp. Works great for me. Target acquisition did seem a little strange at first but you will acclimate quickly.

Just don't file much and keep it a tight press fit.

FWIW I used the Holosun 507C-X2 which EGW sells. I'm happy with it.

I've had my eye on one of those, but I have a Trijicon RMR with green dot that's been languishing in the box waiting on me to find a use. Couldn't bring myself to mount it on my TX22 Comp.

That was a bust. EGW #49512 for Bomar sight cut is what I was informed I needed. Got the mount, looked mostly right but not completely right. Was assured by SIG that it is definitely Bomar cut. Removed rear sight right to left, NBD...tried to push the mount in left to right, dovetail snapped off the mount.
Guess I'll try to make my own.

Have you tried the Trijicon SRO? it’s really BIG

No, haven't tried one. If it's a bigger diameter I may look into one for a PCC that's next on my list.
it’s Round with a flat bottom. I would not use it on a PCC because there are cheap bigger options. Good for pistol with the same mount as the RMR
