    Possibly, if it’s available locally.

For those not so lucky, online is the only option. That being said, I have not personally ordered directly fro Hodgdon. Powder Valley, Midsouth Shooters Supply, Midway and Brownells are my usual places to go to for powder.

Hodgdon website has some rifle powders quite a bit cheaper than Powder Valley, Grafs, Midsouth, etc. Midsouth in particular has raised their IMR rifle powders quite a bit in the last few days.

I'm sure I'm in the minority but, I have never ordered powder over the internet.

I have been offered the opportunity to add some powders to a friend's existing order and have done so, splitting up the Hazmat fee.

I absolutely hate paying the Hazmat fee.

I also have no illusion that I can take that stance forever and may be forced to someday.

I'll bet you are, but I also doubt you're the only one

On the other side of that coin, I've never bought powder, primers or bullets in a local store. I've always shopped and ordered on-line looking for the best delivered price.

I don't think I've ever paid a HazMat fee for my orders...might have but it's been so rare that I've forgotten... as I've always bought when vendors offered "No HazMat" and often "Free Shipping"...it was just a matter of shopping around looking for the best deal. You also get in the habit of ordering larger quantities of product to take advantage of discounts. Until the current shortages, I didn't realize folks bought powder in smaller than 8lb jugs or primers in smaller than 5k count quantities.

The only purchase I've made during the current shortage has been SPP. I bought 10k Genix and the slightly below market price covered both HazMat and shipping

I have ordered powder directly from the Hodgdon website multiple times. (I started reloading in 2020, so that was the only place I ever actually found powder available.) Service and delivery is fine, you should get what you order. But as others have said, there's the hazmat fee to consider. If you know which powder you need, buy it in bulk to spread out the hazmat fee. If you're only looking for a pound of something to experiment with and don't know if you need a bunch, might not be worth the money.

Yes. I do. It's great actually. One of the only places I've been able to find WST, 700X and True Blue over the last year. But I only source online. I asked a guy at the cabelas once if they get any components besides plated bullets and he said not unless you get in line before it opens.

I had stocked up on most components before the latest panic and covid, so I'm not in a great need. But I live in a small town and there was only one store that sold powder and primers and they have not had any on the shelves for at least 2 years. My "problem" is I hate the Haz-Mat rip off and so far have refused to pay it (I had some Haz-Mat training with my employer and have concluded there are much more "dangerous" items shipped, with just minimal considerations; labeling).

    Luckily I did the same.
My last primer purchase was 80,000 primers and I did pay the Haz-Mat fee so I'm aware of making a larger enough purchase to spread out the cost.

I also live in a small town (actually with no gun/reloading supply stores at all) but am fortunate enough to be able to drive a relatively short distance to a very well stocked shop saving me from future online purchases, at least for the time being.

Feel the same and also have enough Haz-Mat training (RR conductor for class 1 RR) to feel that Haz-Mat is a scam.

I've gotten powder from the Hodgdon site exactly1 time last year, for a 8# of I4227. Went ok, probably paid more than I could have gotten elsewhere at a different time but meh. I think it was $267 pre tax/shipping.

Yes, I have ordered directly from the Hodgdon website. Fair pricing, quick ship and no problems.

That said, beware that there are fake websites that have copied Hodgdon's site, and that look almost exactly like the Hodgdon site. Except they accept Zelle and Venmo and PayPal and BitCoin.

Make sure you are on the legit site.

    Me too.

But for me I have to drive at least an hour to purchase, if in stock.
It is a lot nicer having it delivered to my door, not wasting time and gas $ etc.

I looked at Hodgdon’s today. IMHO they are more expensive than Powder Valley and Midsouth. About the same as Midway, cheaper than Brownells.

Their availability was OK but I was looking for bulk shotgun powders and I didn’t order anything because they didn’t have any.

I purchased five pounds from them last year. As I recall it took about 2-3 weeks to arrive. Price wasn’t a concern, at the time they were the only source with the powders I wanted. Overall a good experience.

BTW, I hate not having powder to load and shoot…
