Oregon shooting ranges

quite a few, there is a nifty range in Clackamas....some training center or other, nice but just a 'little to much' for my tastes

there is also a very retro place in Johnson Creek.....straight out of the 50s

....but I am more in favor of the few 10,000 square miles of BLM land!

I used to drive up the Clackamas River road for about 10-12 miles....just before you get into the elevation. There is a spot along the left side of the road, I think it used to be a log scaling station...anyway, right before that is a pull off and a clear area with a decent back stop.

I really miss it out there! Except for the rain that is ! :)

which side of pdx?? east or west? i'm out on the west side, and I know of a few places. Browns camp out hwy 6. Hagg lake area.
And one other that I haven't been to yet but will go scout out today or tomorrow.

this is on the east sid of Portland...going past Estacada.

I haven't done any shooting on the east side

that would be what I named 'the dump' a few years back......and a regular meeting spot for some of us commie gun fans (like M60)

I lived there for 15 years before moving back east about 5 years ago...I do miss it....but I wouldnt be able to convince my wife to move back. She like it hot and dry...and that rules out Oregon.

I used to hunt Blacktail in the mountains and I TOTALLY miss that!

I was thinking east of PDX. I am aware of the indoor range that was mentioned--it's the Klackamas Public Safety Center, I believe. I haven't shot there but I've been inside and it looks good, but indoor ranges make me claustrophobic so I avoid them if possible. Other than BLM land any formal outdoor ranges anyone is aware of? Or shooting clubs that don't cost an arm and a leg to join?

Douglas ridge is the only rifle range I know of east of portland. I would say it is probably 20 min east of I-205 on hwy 212 or 224. I live in Clackamas and can make it out to Tri-county gun club in Sherwood in about the same amount of time.

Douglas Ridge is a nice facility. Tri-county looks nicer on the web, but haven't shot there yet.

I'm still partial to The Dump for rifles and Johnson Creek Gun Club for the pistolas.

Going tomorrow Lars, Dude and M60. Zip06 and the shootist might show. All the usual suspects have been notified.

I had intended to get to the dump this morning... But I slept in and well, thats that. Maybe I'll clean the garage?

BTW there are plenty of spots out here on the west side a couple off of Hwy 26. Im still thinking of doing a 'westside' dump shoot... let me know if anyone is interested in comin out here???

Also there is the 'English Pit' range up in Camas, WA its pretty cheap...

a westside road trip sounds good!

.....too bad you homos never make it over here for the great weather and LONG distance fun!!

Is that an open invite Dude?? Cuz I just might come on over one of these days. I want to do some long range stuff...

And Shweboner, yes, I would love to have a west side "dump" shoot. Although, my new job is going to have me working weekends, so it might be tough for me for a while.

Carlos. How you doing on your ham radio license? Let me know when ya get it so we can get on the air.

A westside shoot sounds great. The dump works well (carlos told me about a few weeks ago), but it is a long drive coming from Beaverton.

Let me know if anything is coming up.

I'll post some pics of a couple spots, you can pick. Both spots are about 30minutes west of Beav./Hillsboro area (to be exact 185th&hwy26).

One is pretty good for getting long range shots. The backstop is at the end of a road so you could go back as far a 2-300 yards, the catch is that its not that wide... so only 4-5 people could fit comfortably on the line. Wont be like that last dump shoot I was at... geez there was like 10 of us that day!

The other is better for large groups, but distance is less, around 75 yards or so? thats just a guess... I still have not measured it.

Dude, if I can... I will. My CETME is getting a little claustrophobia shoot less than 100yds. No matter though... I cant see that far.

If any of you are going to go for a shoot and want to check out some of the west sides finer spots, my shced. is usually pretty open (given a few days notice) give me a call @ my work # below

The "Dump" is about 10 mile past Estacada and to your right on Memaloose road. Road is the first bridge as you pass North Fork Reservoir. Drive up Memaloose till you hit the large rock pit.

Not quite... "The Dump" a la ak47Net is on Hwy. 224, 2 miles PAST the Memaloose bridge on the left, a large PGE tower sits south side of the parking area.

Thgs IS the place that I used to go....man I miss shooting there.

I know of another place that you can get up to 400 yds of shooting area. It is up the Columbia Gorge Hwy. About 20 miles past The Dalles. NOBODY goes there at all...perfect solitude!
