Other things for range time

This whole current time we are in of firearms/ammunition being what it is has sure taken a lot of the pleasure and enjoyment out of the sport for me, I’m sure it has for others as well and I’m curious how many have taken up a new hobby or sport in light of these times?

For myself more time is spent nocking back arrows than filling magazines and range time is meaning the nearby golf course nowadays.
 
It hasn't changed much for me but for the past few months my time has been very limited with school and a full time job. Now for the summer I only have the job so I may feel it. I have been apprehensive about going because the price is going to make it more difficult for me to shoot as much as I used to. I will just have to dial it back a bit. I think I will put the time into to learning how to work on guns and eventually take on a build.
 
Not quite yet. When I get to that point I will look at what I have and what build will be a nice addition. I was toying with AR platform or something to do some long range shooting with.
 
No change for me but things better get back to normal soon, I'm running out of primers.
 
For me, nothing. This ammo-gun craze can work to your advantage if you are not into what everyone else wants. I have zero interest in AR-AK-SKS-etc. although I do own a couple. But I have found a bunch of good deals this year at the end of the gun racks. Everyone is bringing in their safe queens to get whatever was going to be banned. And the gun shops around here have no time for that stuff. I have therefore found a ton of good deals on the stuff I like. In this last year I have found

A Remington 121 The Fieldmaster 22lr from the late 40's in pretty good shape for $300 out the door. I bought it in case our current working gun of the same type finally craps out. I have already pulled parts from it.
A Ruger 77/22 in 22 hornet 90% condition for $300
A Mossberg 183T in 410 in probably 98% condition for $100 out the door.
A S&W model 64 in good shape for $200.
A Colt Mark III Trooper from the early eighties seemingly unfired for $400.

All of those guns were well underpriced and most of them were trade ins. I think the gun shops probably price them near cost just to turn them into cash. Its been great. Considering I will probably never shoot most of them the ammo situation doesnt really concern me other than 22lr.

great finds! I agree with what you said too, I'm glad I don't have a burning desire to maintain AR/AKs. I've shot and owned both platforms but I love SA, wheel guns, lever guns, bolt guns. 1911 is as modern as I can stand :D
 
Been working lots of OT for the last 4 months so I haven't really had any free time for much of anything, especially that which is gun related. Plus this past winter (i.e. cold weather), seemed to drag on forever and even now it still isn't all that warm yet. Should get to the range once it starts warming up a bit and get back into the swing of things.
 
Nothing new. Shooting interests are just one of the things that keep me busy. Being active in church, playing in band, collecting WW2 stuff, reading, keeping up on politics, and oh yeah, working 40-50 hours a week are enough to stay busy. It is unhealthy spend all your time focused on one thing.

We had about thirty friends over yesterday for a barbecue and I never talked about guns once.
 
I shoot muzzleloaders. No problem here. Been doing this for over 50 yrs.
Our club just had a 3 day shoot. Other next month. Going to Nationals next
Month Be about 5,000 there. Guess I 'm lucky.
 
I'm learning to shoot a recurve bow. Lots of fun so far and I can see myself getting addicted...
 
My range time has not decreased much, if any from last year

between the non-ending list my wife comes up with for "little projects" she would like
me to "help" her with, (basically do for her, while she supervises)

and my other passion which is trapping, I don't hardly have any down time to think
or care for that matter about any ammo or reloading supply shortage
 
Sold a few guns to the impatient, was patient and bought a few guns. I've been a bit more judicious with my ammo at the range, but that has been a positive since I've been better about planning what I want to work and sticking to it.

I'm with you. The cost of ammo these days has put a real damper on the sport for me lately.
 
Due to being somewhat prepared and the fact that I don't really shoot all that much (4-5 range trips a month. 100 rounds or so each trip), I really haven't changed my habits that much. However, I also need to spend some time practicing slinging some arrows. Archery season starts here on September 15, so it's not all that far off. Time to practice some.
 
i have lots of hobbies but have really been into shooting this year. will continue to shoot 3-400 rounds every weekend until it gets too cold out again, then start shooting indoors after that.
 
I have spent MORE time shooting the last 6 months as I shoot sporting clays and here in Florida, the major shoots all happen in the first four months when the weather is the best. Now that the heat is gearing up, I am down to three times per week and balance the rest with yardwork. Everything but the grass is growing great -any weed you can name!
 
Wow for the most part it seems shooting habits haven't changed for THR, which kinda surprises me but more power to ya guys! thanks fishbed for the moral support haha
