For lighweight and comfort as well as compact my favorite is the 442. For horsepower, either the 457 or GP-100. Lightweight auto, the G19.

I gave my sister a Security-Six.

She's of that age.

But, what does age have to do with what you carry?

Seems to me, if you are healthy and hearty, you carry as much gun as the circumstance may require.
Otherwise, you carry as much gun as you can.

I'm 61 and carry an EMP in 9mm or a Kahr PM40. Oh, and sometimes a 396 OC or 1911 10 mm.

It varies. Usually my Glock 19. Sometimes my S&W 642. Occasionally, my Colt Commander or H&K USPc45. Once in a blue moon, my Walther PPK/S.

Based on what you folks are saying on here, is carry what works best for you, carry what you can still handle. Age doesn't seem to be a factor in selection really... I expect old-timers to carry 1911's and the younger folks go for the Glocks and Glock knock-offs. But you guys are proving me wrong. Then again, 60 these days isn't really all that old. You baby boomers kept up with changing times better than your parents generation did.

I think age and disability play a bigger part with shoulder fired weapons. I'm not that old, only in my 30's, but I have put my body through a LOT, and I suffer a lot of the complaints older folks have regarding skeletal problems. I had to switch from using the 12ga. to my M4 for bedside. If I wake up with my shoulder burning, I'm just not sure I could handle it sufficiently. That has been the biggest change for me.

I qualify. My primary carry piece is a Walther P99C AS in 9mm. I sometimes carry a Walther PPK/S .380 model. I'll often have a Beretta Jetfire as a backup.

Still 3 1/2 years away from the big 60, but currently carry an older Glock Model 19 with a couple of extra mags most of the time. Sometimes carry a 2 inch SP-101 .357 Mag with snake loads if I am in snake country. In the more urban areas, the Glock with 15 rounds in the mag seems to make more sense than the 15 rounds in the SP-101, 5 in the cylinder and 5 more in each of the speed loaders.

Well it depend on if I can remember where I put what. :what: Once I find my pants, like others it varies. My current rotation starts with what I have on right now is a Bersa 380. Other times and circumstances, I carry Bersa 45, Charter 44 special bulldog pug, or a P3AT.

Im so close to seventy that I don't want to think about it. Now what was the question? Oh yeah--most carried is my S&W M&P .40c. When the wheel gun love enters the picture, I have the S&W 19-3 snubby riding in a nice Kramer horsehide.

I'm 65 +

Generally all Rugers: GP100 4" .357, LCP, LC9 or SR9c - all IWB (or pocket carry in the case of the LCP). I try to shoot all four weekly to stay sharp with them.

I'm 70 and too old to carry. Between the tremors and bad eyes me using a handgun in a threat situation would be a dicey prospect. I've asked my wife to carry she's 29 and has a steady hand and steely eyes.

Get'em darlin:) :) :)

60 years plus, carry a Springfield 1911a1 Loaded 45acp in a Mernickle high rise PS6 80% of the time. The other 20% goes to a little 380 auto in a small kydek pancake holster. Either will do the job but the 45 just doesn't have to work as hard.
