I just won a 9mm Norinco Tokarev (213) for what I think is a pretty good deal on G.B. ($100) and I am getting ready for it. I got it cheap because some bubba decided to strip the finish from the frame to make a two-tone look, and drilled holes in the trigger to lighten it. :barf: :barf: Lucky me has a father in law who just happens to have a nice hot blue setup. Once the pistol comes in I will replace the trigger and blast and hot blue it back into shape.

Question though, is the Tokarev able to handle +p 9mm, or even +p+? I would assume it is as the pistol is designed for the hotter 7.62x25 round. This is going to be my primary HD weapon and I am looking to figure out my options in available ammo. On a related note, whats your opinion on the best 9mm defense ammunition?

That hammer looks funky, and it looks like the grip is cracked (happens when somebody who doesn't know Toks tries to pry them off...).
I would think you could use any 9mm ammo that would feed. I wouldn't worry about the trigger.

I doubt there will be any problem with the 9mm +P. I have never heard of a 9mm +P+, at least in a factory load.

The Tokarev hammer is unusual in that the hammer spring goes vertically up the hammer body, rather than the normal below the hammer position. This is a by-product of the Tokarev removable fire control module.
I assume that either Norinco or the previous user wanted the drilled through commander hammer look.

just a thought, I have drilled hole in these triggers on request, as a place to hang a lock. Don't know that I care for trigger locks, but if there are kids around... as for +p I would say ok. +p+ you might want to case harden the barrel retaining pin, or at lest have it checked. I have seen one of these fail, it was abused till it failed by a novice reloader with no understanding of powder speeds or weights [duh it can take as much powder as it will hold right, duh] The pin at first cracked and he asked me to take a look at it. I told him to replace it and read the instructions on his field loader. He declined both bits of advice, when the thing broke slide assy hit him in the shoulder. Over all I like these guns but think the Zastava is better.
